I was only in San Francisco, California for two days. Two days. That is not a lot of time so my parent’s let my brother and I pick out one thing we really wanted to do. My brother, David picked to go to the Fisherman’s Wharf and spend the day walking along the ocean. I personally wished we could stay an entire month in San Fran. I found myself stuck between two choices; see the Golden Gate Bridge or Oracle Arena. Walk across a grand and beautiful steel bridge that’s worldly known or go see where the Golden State light the basketball world up pretty much every night. My choice was pretty much made for me because the highway to Oakland, California where the Warrior’s play was blocked due to protestors.
The sky was overcast and raindrops were starting to fall. The temperature was rather cold around 50 degrees for the July day in San Francisco. Crowds of cars were everywhere as my dad shouted to get out of the car. My dad was not going to be able to make the journey with us because he’s afraid of heights. Walking up to the massive structure of stunning red steel. The time has now come and I took my first steps across the mile long bridge. The bay was spurting up waves. The wind was whipping my hair about. My mom, brother, and I all wore raincoats and pants. Looking to the right, I saw Alcatraz Island off in the distance. Bikes zipped by and we walked in a single file line. The sidewalk was very skinny and had to be careful not to get hit.
After getting through the halfway point of the walk, the wind started to die down. Finally, the clouds were starting to drift towards the bay area. Blue skies all around. The temperature started to rise and felt like a warm summer day. I finished the long walk and felt accomplished. I looked back and saw the looming bridge covered in a foggy mist.
