Dear J.K Rowling.
There are a lot of things I want to thank you for. Most importantly, thank you for inspiring me to become a writer. I've always wrote stories and shared them with my family, but you inspired me to show the world my writing. Your attention to detail and your formula has always allowed me to see that its okay to explain things at large. It truly developed my imagination to the level that it is today. I was a dull child with no imagination, and your books inspired me to think outside the box. Since I started reading your books, I've written many short stories and poems. The vivid imagery in your writing inspires my stories, and the lessons that Harry, Ron and Hermione teach us has always followed me into adulthood.
I was a lonely child in elementary, middle, and some of high school. Harry and the gang were my friends during lunch time. I come from a laid-back community, but it has its cliques. I was part of the outsider clique, and even in that group I was an outsider. We were nicknamed the "Goonies." With me being socially awkward with nothing to say about anything, I could escape reality for hours in the hallways and dormitories of Hogwarts Witchcraft and Wizardry. As a proud Ravenclaw, that house is known for the quiet, and weird types. I feel like Luna Lovegood would have been my best friend if the school existed in real life. I used to be made fun of for carrying around the Harry Potter books at my school because it wasn't considered "cool." I didn't care because I had a "friend that I can carry around in my pocket".
I had a lot of trouble reading when I was younger. I started reading your books when I was 8. My earliest memory is carrying the Sorcerers Stone in my 3rd-grade classroom with anxiety because all the students thought I was the dumbest one in the class. I was reading below my level because I was never inspired to read any books because I was that child that was glued to the television. I found my emotions when I finished reading your book because I didn't know how to express myself. I ended up winning the award for reading the most books in my grade in middle school because of that spark that you gave me.
Thank you for everything you do outside of writing. You lost your millionaire status in 2012 because of your generosity. That is truly a fantastic example to those are given more than what they need. You always carry yourself like a queen, and I have always striven to do so as well. I also admire how much you don't run to the media with everything you've been doing. I love reading all of your tweets because all of your sass gives me life.
Love from,
Noreen Bihm
