Waking up at the break of dawn is only appropriate on tailgate days.
You go to Indiana University, so there is nothing more that you love than a Hoosier tailgate. You eat, sleep and breathe for these Saturdays. An Indiana tailgate is like no other. We wake up early, we go to the bars for Breakfast Club (if we're old enough), and game time is nap time (maybe). You have planned out your outfit for the last week and set it out on your desk the night before. That way, in the morning when you wake up bright and early, you are ready to go. Here's the timeline for your day.
6 a.m. Your alarm rings but, unlike any other morning, you hop right on out of bed. Your alarm is the sound of the start of a great day. You know you'll be back in your bed in roughly six to seven hours. You put on your amazing candy stripes. You are ready to start your day.
7 a.m. You call your ride to go to your pair. If you're 21, you have been at KOK since the moment it opened (before sunrise) for Breakfast Club.
7:15 a.m. You have arrived at your pair and you are ready to go! You run around trying to find your friends and get the best photo for your Instagram.
9 a.m. You have been at your pair for roughly two hours and you are ready to hit the fields.
9:15 a.m. You arrive at the fields and go to your tent. An excessive amount of people try to stuff themselves under your tent, but it's okay because you are already hot and sweaty. You have run into almost everyone you know in other chapters. You catch up and take a picture together.
10 a.m. You are shocked because it feels like you have been up for a million hours. Your body hits a wall. You are so hungry, so you and your friends decide that somehow, some way you are going to get food. You decide to order food or make your way to Kirkwood.
10:30 a.m. You get to Chipotle and make the perfect burrito or burrito bowl. You cannot remember taking down that entire burrito, but it happened. You are full, and you are happy.
11:15 a.m. You realize that it still is not even noon. You start making it back to your house because you are tired and need to nap.
12 noon. You make it back to your house. Your bed has never felt more comfortable at all. You may have not even made it to your bed because you went only as far as the couch in your lounge.
4 p.m. You wake up from your long nap. You are ready to rally.
10 p.m. The next thing you know, you are out again.
Happy Tailgate. This is IU.
