College is a completely different experience and you'll be learning new things up until the day you graduate. Of course you'll be learning course material and new concepts but perhaps more importantly you're learning about yourself and what exactly it is you want out of life. It's important to take your college experience in stride, focus on your school work and extracurricular opportunities, but it's just as important to have fun and make friends. Many students struggle with deciding on a field to work in and a major that fits them.
As a person who changed their major a year and a half into my time at school, I cannot stress how important it is to find what you're passionate about and pursue it. Never stay in a major because of the pay or because it's what your parents want you to do. I was previously a speech-language pathology major due to the job security and good salary but I realized it wasn't for me. I found my true passion in history and political science, fields that I'm not only interested in but am extremely passionate about. I consider myself an activist when it comes to politics and participate in the democratic process as much as I can. Without my change in major, I wouldn't have come into the various opportunities I am currently benefiting from and will continue to, from my internship on a congressional campaign to my internship I have this summer at the Democratic National Convention.
Coming into college undecided is one of the best things you can do for yourself, so you can explore the different opportunities and majors your college provides without committing to any specific major. This will allow you to take a variety of general education courses so you can feel out college and figure out where you belong. Don't be afraid to talk to a professional at your school or adviser who can help you figure out where you belong as far as your major goes.
Many different things can inspire you to change your major, from a breakup to a realization that the field you're in isn't the one you're passionate about. Considering the amount of money you will spend on attending school, make sure it's well spent. Don't be afraid to spend an extra year or two at school. Everyone moves at their own pace in college and your year of graduation should be unique to you. Not graduating with your class is not an important thing and should not make you feel less than your peers. Never waste time on something that you don't care about, remember, you only have one life to live and you should spend it doing what you are passionate about and will enjoy for years to come.
