It's almost Halloween, so Christmas won't be far. Now look back, I can't believe that it has been almost six months since the quarantine started. As all the classes and social events have been transferred online, nobody needs to dress up because it is literally PJ day every day. Plus a lot of gym facilities have been shut down during the quarantine, people became less motivated to hit the gym. It seems like gaining weight during the quarantine is unpreventable. But don't lose hope. Believe me, changing yourself is not a difficult thing to do even during this difficult time. As long as you are determined, you will glow up.

Before you start your plan, you need to know these four things about weight losing and dieting.

No.1: Having the right mindset of losing weight is so much more important than making plans.

Speaking of losing weight, I guess the first thing that everybody does is googling workout plans or diet instructions because it is a very hard thing to do on your own. It is essential to understand the basic knowledge about the human body, so we can achieve our goals much easier and faster. However, there are a lot of misconceptions about weight loss for beginners. The most common one that held on to everybody's mind is the mindset of rushing.

Type in "lose weight" in the search engine, the first thing that appeared was "How to Lose Weight Fast: 3 Simple Steps Based on Science." Go to YouTube, you will find that most of the workout videos are suggesting fast weight losing methods or exercises like "2-week shred challenge" or "get abs in 2 weeks." The internet certainly gives us a lot of pressure when it comes to weight loss because it seems like once you decide to lose weight, you have to achieve your goal in the shortest time possible. What I want to say is, chill out! It is not like you have to shoot a Hollywood movie next month so you have to lose 50 lbs in 30 days. You have all the time in this world to change the shape of your body.

The right way to start your weight-losing journey is to set a long term goal. You want to have a nice body, and you also want to keep it. Too many people jump straight to strict diets and soon lose their motivation. Just remember, if you decide to have a new plan like work out every day or eat healthier, tell yourself that you will keep doing this probability for the rest of your life.

No.2: Goal setting.

Extending from the previous advice, you want to make a long term goal, so this goal has to be doable. And it is totally up to you to start at any level. You can start working out at home three times a week and gradually increase the exercise time. Or you can start intensely and stick to it As long as you have the ability and time to do it every day.

No.3: Have a skinny mind.

Dieting is hard because we are humans and we desire food. Nowadays it is even harder to resist eating constantly because of the varieties and commonalities of calorie-rich food. However, the good side is that we have a lot of choices. We can choose what we eat. And it is super super super important to choose the right thing to eat if you want to efficiently lose weight.
You absolutely don't have to starve yourself. You just need to make a wiser choice every day. Make an effort to change small things in your life like cut off a fat snack or choose diet coke. Make eating healthier a habit. Have a skinny mind before owning a skinny body.

If you want to learn more knowledge of nutrient facts related to weight loss, just go to YouTube and search up.

No.4: It is okay to fail once or twice.

Before I actually lost 20 Lbs during the quarantine, I failed many times. Now look back, I realized that I was just too harsh on myself. When I was dieting before, I almost rejected all the unhealthy food that I was craving. Over time I got exhausted from that kind of lifestyle and gave up. It is totally okay to eat unhealthy food once in a while. Just try to avoid mental exhaustion.
If you failed, just tell yourself it's okay and start again. Dieting can be a new lifestyle for you if you view it as a marathon instead of a short race, so don't exhaust yourself in the beginning.

Overall, I just want to let you guys know that losing weight doesn't have to be scary and difficult. Putting plans into action is important, but you also need a correct mindset. You have to consider long term effects and results, and you also have to remember that making yourself happy is your final goal. What are you waiting for? It is time to glow up!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
