Romantic comedies or Rom-com's are some of the most well-known movies out there. From watching them when you've had a good day or when you've just been broken up with. Most of the time, you can never go wrong with a rom-com. "Isn't It Romantic" follows Rebel Wilson's character as she doesn't believe in love and hates romantic comedies, but because of a small incident has her life thrown into the style of a rom-com.
This movie has such a great story and a wonderful cast, it is definitely a must see movie. Not only does this movie have great comedic moments, but it also tells a great story. I greatly applaud the writers of this movie because it is still a rom-com, but at the same time, it is not a traditional rom-com.
The fact that this movie makes fun of and also honors romantic comedies at the same time is quite an interesting one. From having Rebel Wilson's character going from loving them to hating them to then being in one to learn a life lesson is a great cinematic rollercoaster. This movie did such a good job of looking at the battle between people who do or do not like romantic comedies.
I truly loved this whole movie, from beginning to end, I was fully enthralled in the storyline. I am a sucker for a good rom-com and this is definitely one that I will watch again. The story had a great arc and the character growth throughout the movie was fantastic. It was so nice to see a rom-com that was still a rom-com but was taken from a new angle.
This movie really had some great lessons in it as well. One is the fact that just because you have that one friend who helps everyone else with their relationships may seem happy, but some people can be really good at hiding their brokenness. Yet even though all of that learning to love yourself before you love someone else is a huge plus. The other main lesson being that you don't always need someone else to complete you, if it happens that's amazing, but you can enjoy just being who you are and hanging with friends and not have your life centered around a significant other.
I would highly recommend this movie, so if you are having a date night or a girls night it is definitely one to check out. Plus Rebel Wilson is just insanely funny, so it makes this movie even better. No matter how much you love rom-com's, there are still moments where it is easy to laugh or make fun of the situations going on and this movie expertly ties in that and the love of a traditional rom-com. So next time you are having a movie night, take a minute and check this movie out. I promise you won't be disappointed.
