Education is one of the most important experiences we can have in our lives. Education can open doors to new opportunities that can take us to places we never thought were possible. Having an education is is important, but how you receive that education can also play a big part in how much it can benefit you in the long run.

Such is the case between public school and homeschooling. In the last couple of decades, the public education system has been heavily criticized and many have questioned how effective it really has been. Many feel that the public school system does not benefit all students, especially minority students. With the pitfalls of public education becoming more apparent, more people are keeping their kids put and taking matters into their own hands as the rate of homeschooled students continues to rise.

The rise of homeschooling is completely understandable. The public school system continues to fail students as it does not accommodate for each student and their style of learning. Not to mention that at public schools, much of what the students learn is material that they probably will not have to use later on in life.

Meanwhile, with homeschooling students receive the one-on-one attention they need while going at a pace that they are comfortable with. Also, homeschooled students do not have to adhere to a certain learning curriculum, they can learn more than students in the public school system. While homeschooling does provide numerous advantages, it can also present students with possible problems and disadvantages in the long run.

One of those problems can be the student's lack of social exposure that can come with homeschooling. With students learning at home, they can risk missing out on the many social experiences that come through the public school. Not to mention that since most homeschool students are exempt from the immunization requirements of the public school, the risk of them catching a disease increase.

In the end, it is important for students to take advantage of the blessing of education. While public schooling is the most conventional way of education, there have been many pitfalls from this style of education that have put it into question. Meanwhile, homeschooling has continued to rise as the advantages of this style of education become more apparent.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
