I Interviewed My Roommate To See What It's Like Living With Me

Interviewing my roommate was definitely a learning experience, but also reminded me of some great times we've had.

I know I can be a pain to be around sometimes, but I also try to be fun and uplifting. Today, I decided to really get to know what it's like to live with myself, so I asked my roommate a series of questions. Here's how it went.

What is my biggest quirk?

"It has to be dead ass silent in here when you read. Which is the complete opposite of me, because I have to have noise."

You see, I'm definitely not going to deny this, but I get so sidetracked if there is any noise going on while I am trying to read, so I need it to be silent to comprehend what's in front of me. I know its a pain, but you still love me.

If there was anything in my daily routine that you would change, what would it be and why?

"You could walk around naked less. Why? Because that's awkward."

When I see you every day for two whole semesters, I'm going to get comfortable really quick. Ill try to keep my clothes on, but no promises.

What is your favorite memory of us from our dorm room?

"The night we did The Newlyfriend Game. Walmart runs at 2 a.m. are also fun."

So, The Newlyfriend Game is a spin-off of the TV show The Newlywed Game, where they ask questions in which the other person has to guess what you would say. It was a lot of fun, and we both found much more about each other. Walmart runs always happen at the most inconvenient time, but can also be the best time.

What is it like living with me as your roommate?

"That's a very general question. I guess, you just never know what kind of Kelsi mood you'll get. On Monday, you wake up with a Kelsi mood of 'Why am I awake, I'm not dressing nice, I don't want to go to class.' Tuesday is a completely different person, you put on all of the makeup and wear cute clothes, then Wednesday is like a half and half. There are also times when you want Oreos at 12 a.m. and we go to Walmart to get them. All of that said, though, it's been a fun semester and a half."

THIS IS SO TRUE. Mondays are my mortal enemy, and Oreos are the reason why I am alive.

Are you going to be sad when we move out?

"Yeah."

Wow, I'm glad you're really justifying yourself there, Mal. But in all seriousness, I'll miss living with you too. No one will understand my random moods and cravings like you do. I love you, Mal!

I've never had a roommate, but I'm glad I had Mallory to ride through this experience with. We've had so many laughs, and made so many memories. I'll remember this forever, especially now that I realize what living with me is like.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
