Be comfortable with being alone.

Often, someone’s biggest fear is being alone. It doesn’t matter if that means being alone for the rest of your life or just walking into a room by yourself. There seems to be this constant need to not be alone. I believe that is why people are best friends with their cell phone. They can look busy and social at the same time. Obviously, your friends are on your phone and since you are on your phone, you are with your friends...right? Wrong.

The best way to not feel alone is to be comfortable with being by yourself. I always notice that when someone enters a room, they are either surrounded by people or on their phone. Entering a room with your head held high, and eyes looking up instead of down at the floor demonstrates a level of confidence. Walking with confidence is one of the best ways to establish your presence, show authority, and appear open to conversation with new people. Staying on your phone gives other people in the room the vibe that you are unavailable to talk/interact with or that you have better things to do. While you may be sending texts, your non-verbal communication can send out a negative signal to those around you. Before the invention of text messages and smartphones, what did people do when they were alone? They had to have an actual conversation with someone on the phone, talk with someone sitting by them, or read the newspaper. Back then, people couldn’t whisk themselves away from society by entering the cyber world on their cell phone.

There is no shame in walking into a room alone. You won’t always have someone to walk around with you so that you look like you are interesting and have friends. It’s impossible for you to be around people constantly. So, instead of feeling anxious, enjoy the time when you are alone. Feel comfortable with it. People who are constantly on their phone look insecure and uncomfortable, rather than cool and approachable.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
