"Glug" by Indigo Child X Magnetic released December 4, on ThazDope Records. In just a few short days, it earned hundreds of well-deserved listens.
The first thing you need to know about this track is that Magnetic and Indigo Child are both equally talented producers in their own right. The important thing to note about these two is that I swear, they are the yin and yang of underground electronic dance music right now.
You have Indigo Child that delivers this very dark, raw transcendental energy which can really be heard on his EP "Dark Sector." With heavy dubstep tracks and dirty bass, Indigo Child is definitely the yin.
On the other hand you have Magnetic, the yang in this instance. Who has a little more upbeat mysterious feel that is so put together it is almost poetic.
So when you have these two counterparts working together, creating this very unparalleled piece of oeuvre, it is pure synergy.
I have seen Magnetic and Indigo Child go back-to-back multiple times. They truly do deliver a very specific type of chemistry through their performance. There is no denying that these guys were made to work together. Between the two they have played many festivals and shows throughout the country; I have no doubt that they will continue to succeed.
So let's talk about this track. We know this is about some sort of sea creature hence the name "Glug." And there's lot of producers that have wrote songs inspired by monsters from the depths of the unknown. But what separates this particular track from everything else? It's a collaborative piece of artwork between two guys, it combines vocals, and at exactly 41 seconds in; you will lose your mind.
I've listened to a lot of tracks by a lot of different producers. But rarely do I get something that I'm okay with replaying five or six times at 2 a.m. This is one of those tracks.
Upon first listen, it as a build up and you're like "okay, I'm not too sure where there is going." Then the song builds upon itself with lots of different layerings and it takes this very, unique shape. Throughout the track you have parts of more melodic feel mixed in with wubs and drums.
What I really like about this is that isn't your stereotypical dubstep track. There is a story behind it, you can tell that this is true quality here. It is these kind of tracks from these kind of producers that help keep underground electronic music alive.
You can find Indigo Child and Magnetic at The Mousetrap in Indianapolis on Saturday, December 9, with Secret Recipe presented by Collage Arts and Entertainment.
