7 Important Reasons You Should Appreciate Your Family
Anne Good

Family is the best thing that God gave you. They are always there for you and are always on your side. Making memories with your family is the best thing to look back on when there are some bumps in the road.

Don’t be ashamed of your family, even if you think they are weird at times, they will always be your family no matter what. Appreciate your family every time you can, you never know what life is going to bring you.

1. They are always there for you.

My family is there for me no matter what. Through my bad decisions and my good decisions even when I decided to go 1,775.2 miles away for college. My family is such a blessing and they are always there for me even when they need to come rescue me from a bad decision.

2. They love you for who you are.

My family loves me for who I am and that makes life even better. I do not have to be different around my family like many people feel they have to be different around their friends and family. They love me for all the little things I do that are weird or funny. Having a family who loves me for who I am helps encourage me to be who I am and to not try to be someone else.

3. They support you through everything.

Knowing my family fully supports me through everything is such a great thing especially since I am in a completely different state than them for college. They are on my side even though we are far away from each other. They always support my decisions even if they do not fully understand my thinking or do not agree completely with me.

4. They provide for you.

A major thing to appreciate my family for is providing for me. Ever since I was little, my parents have been working hard to provide food, clothes, a roof over our heads, toys, and college tuition. As both my parents work hard every day at their jobs, they work hard for my sisters and I.

5. They raise you to be the best you can be.

My parents have taught me from a young age that I always have the ability to be the best I can be. They have taught me so many things like working hard, having a good attitude, finishing something that I start and trying my best at everything. Knowing these skills helps me to achieve being the best I can be.

6. They laugh with you and make memories.

Whether it is my sister making a joke or doing something funny, we are always laughing and making memories at my house. Being able to make memories with my family makes being away from my family easier since I can look forward to seeing them and making more memories. Even if I am having a bad day, I can always reminisce about old memories and my day will get better.

7. They will always be your family no matter what.

My family will always be my family no matter what comes between us. I will always love them and talk to them even if I do not live close to them. Family is very important to me and it always will be.

Always having someone to talk to or hang out with when you do not want to leave the house on a Friday night is just a plus about being so close with your family. It's like I have built in best friends at home!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
