Imagination is your greatest gift, it’s as simple as that. Now, to talk about imagination as the greatest gift ever bestowed on us, we first must define what imagination is. I'm not going to give you the dictionary.com definition like this is some English paper, so I’ll describe it in my own words. Imagination is the sole thing that makes us like God, it's a phenomenon indescribable that stays with us from the beginning of our lives till the day we lay to rest. Yes, you can become like God, and I’ll talk about that more later on. Its greatest contribution towards humanity is the ability to allow us to think things through (imagine a better you, a better tomorrow), and even allows us to withstand hardships through rationality and morality.
It’s not easy to describe what imagination is, and the same applies to dreams. All we know is that we have it, we rely on it, and we use it to act upon scenes in the most rational or irrational way as possible. The saying, “think before you act,” is self-explanatory. We have to think before we act, but there are some instances where our instinct replaces our imagination or consciousness for the betterment of ourselves and the ones we love.
With that being said, Albert Einstein himself one day daydreamed of riding on a light beam and asked himself what it would be like to travel at the speed of light. Scientists and theories prior to his imagination left him in doubt, but he didn’t let that stop him from his later accomplishment of the Theory of Relativity. His instincts told him not to settle for simple physics, and in doing so he went on to study and worked hard to create the theory we see today as his greatest accomplishment. Due to his daydreaming, he thought outside the box, or even better, he imagined no box at all. Instances like this allow humans to go above and beyond the basic call of normality and achieve great heights all while using their imaginations.
Personally, imagination is the one and only thing I would never give up to anyone or anything. As a writer, imagination is my tool and my weapon. One would probably say that the pen is mightier than the sword, and to a degree it is. But to write, one must first think, imagine, daydream, remember to write. Everything must have a source, and the source itself must come from somewhere, right? The origin of imagination is one of the most critical questions one can ask and never truly find an answer to. A fantastic wonder, indeed.
Why do you think zombies love brains? Because the brain is the most important organ in our body. Imagination is hidden away in the electrical impulses in our brain, and through the sensation of imagination one can find hidden deeply away the creation of man, the purpose of human life, and the many other wonders that are kept away, just waiting to be cracked open. Albert Einstein used his imagination to unlock a secret not about our world, but about the universe.
In conclusion, imagination can make us like God because of its ability to allow us to think about whatever we want. To do whatever we want could have many serious consequences, although the imagination is not chained back by any forms of law or human restraints. In its own way, imagination gives us the power to play God. As a novelist, I have taken all of the traits bestowed onto me from my imagination and created a novel series based on the controversial similarities between God and our imagination. To put things into perspective, I decide the fate of my characters, their facial features, how they speak, what they speak, the land, the plot, who dies and who survives. Ultimately, no one should ever play God, and no one can, physically. Yet, mentally we have the power to becoming closer to God-like, and it all starts with imagining.
