Reminiscing: to recall past events or experiences …
My life has changed. Changed in way that I could never imagine. I went from being an ordinary high school girl, relying on my parents for everything, to being a grown up trying to find my place in the world. I would be lying to say that I’m not proud of myself.
I look back at these last couple months wondering where the hell the time went. Where are my high my school friends? Sister? Brother? The familiar faces? Well, they aren’t where I am and I sure miss them.
To my high school friends: I can’t wait to talk about life together, go on beach trips, laugh till we cry, and then laugh again like we used to. I’ve had the best months of life and you are the people that will appreciate all of the stupid decisions I made and the typical college stories. Life has taken a turn since we were all last together, more than we probably realize. As we are all ending our freshman year of college, we look back at our high school graduation. We were so nervous to walk across the stage at graduation wondering where our friendships would go from here. Would we call each other everyday? Would I talk to you every couple weeks? Would I ever talk to, or see you again?
To my family: I’m a stronger person than when I left in August. I can do things for myself and have figured out life without all of you. I now know the type of person I want to end up with and where I want to be in this big world. You have all helped me through the bad grades, stressful days, and lonely times throughout this entire year. More importantly, you were there to listen to the best stories and amazing friendships. Can’t wait to see you all soon (after I take my million final exams).
To my college bff's: Wow, I can not leave you guys. You are the people who were standing by my side for the stupid decision and college adventures. You are the people who know every personal thing about me, even when I probably give you too much information, nor do you care to know. You were the people that laughed at me when I stood outside with shampoo in my hair during a fire drill. When I was drunk multiple times walking down the streets, you came to find me and managed to get me into bed. However, I’m not the only guilty one. I did the same for all of you. My favorite times of this year was waking up on the weekends to talk about our eventful nights. Or sometimes putting the pieces back together.
To my hometown: I’m coming home a different person. I hope you still recognize me.
I’m a sentimental person, therefore, I love reminiscing. Thankfully, in my case, there are a whole lot of things to reminisce about.
