Hey, guys, I'm back and getting truly lazy with my topics. Kinda overloaded with college core requirements that, depending on your opinion, have a 0 or 10 relevance in modern life (there is no in between. If you think there is, you are a sensible human being and I applaud you. But get on the bandwagon. Moderation isn't fun.).
As you might have guessed, some of the classes I'm taking belong to the vaunted "gender studies" meme. So I decided to write about it. Nothing more to be said. (Nothing else happened in my life recently, either.)
OK, so let's say that I was born a girl. We'll call me Jonna. And let's keep everything else the same, cause I'm too lazy to re-imagine my whole life.
Well first off, I would immediately become more attractive because girls are more attractive than guys (to guys... and girls too, I think) and I already have a high opinion of my own good looks (ha, yes, I'm a vain guy). Plus, I'm tall so that's such a great bonus. (OK, all that is debatable but just let me live my delusions.) I just like to think I'd look good with long hair.
Also, I could finally wear skinny jeans! (I like European cuts, but I really got to lose some weight.)
I guess I'd have a little more freedom in experimenting... if I was inclined to that sort of thing. Society likes that more anyways. Intentionally vague statements here.
There are some... downsides too:
The shoes don't look that comfortable. (Seriously, have you ever tried on high heels? They're SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN to be bad for you. Walking damage right there.)
Same for pants. Have you ever noticed that most good-looking girls' pants have no or really impractical pockets?
Back when I played tennis, no girls' tennis skirts had pockets either! They just had to stuff balls into a band under the skirt.
How do girls actually carry anything like that?
Oh right, that's what purses are for. I guess I'd have to wear one too. Eh, I kinda prefer backpacks.
Make-up. I probably wouldn't bother with this cause I'm a lazy slob who just throws on clothes and leaves the house. It sounds like a hassle.
On the plus side, I'd be a girl in STEM (science, tech, engineering, medicine) which I hear that people are trying to increase now, so my value as a person just doubled/tripled. Ditto if I ever became a gamer.
...I guess I could also get pregnant... and all the uncomfortable things that come with that... yeah, I'm going to skip over that, it's been done to death... you probably all saw "Juno" (if not check it out. It was decent.)
On the minus side, I don't really like being praised for something that isn't much of an achievement — not that it isn't hard to be in STEM, but it's not like being a girl would change my skill set.
Would I be good at sports? I'm not good right now.
Would I have more female friends? Or still male friends? I guess that just depends on who I hang out with in my youth. Not really a gender-specific thing.
Women's rights? Sexual assault? Religion? Abortion? Yeah, I don't want to get into that. It's really not my place. But JONNA would and should. I'd be wrong to. She'd be right to.
Oh, the things we mock. The grass is salty on the other side my friend.
Honestly, I'd probably rather stay the way I am.
Is that so bad?
What would I say if I was a girl?
(See you next week guys!)
(Bonus Comment from Jonna: What would I be like if I was a guy? I guess I'd still be dreamy, unfocused, undisciplined, and vengeful on the idiots of the world with an aftertouch of pacifism, poor decision-making and more. All you readers, tell Jonathan he needs to step up his game for me. Cause my life is much better than his. I'll go back to non-existence now. Peace.)
