Honestly, let's just talk about dogs.

I think I can speak for all GDI's when I say that this is one of the most frequent questions I get. At this point, I've gotten more than enough practice with my responses to this, and the follow-up questions, i.e. "Did you rush?" "Why not?" "Do you still go out?" and then the ever-so-often conversation ender of "Oh, well that's okay!" Here's some ideas for questions we can all try out during our next outing - let's get that creativity flowing:

1. How are you?

Fabulous. I am Beyonce, always.

2. What's your name?

Seems pretty self explanatory, in my opinion.

3. What's your major?

Let me complain to you about my STEM major, I am begging you.

4. What year are you?

Always a solid introductory question, people.

5. Why did Yankee Doodle name the feather in his hat Macaroni?

I thought you'd never ask.

6. Where are you from?

Let's have that awkward moment where we pretend to have heard of each other's suburbs and move on.

7. Where do you live?

Maybe don't make this your first question, it could come across a bit creepy.

8. If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still called #2?

It just doesn't seem fair.

9. How many siblings do you have?

Referring to real siblings here, not the sisters/brothers you pledged with.

10. What are your plans this weekend?

I'd like to say I have a social life, but the answer to this more often than not will probably be working or sleeping. Still ask, because there's a 1 in 284295 chance it'll be that I'm going out.

11. Do you have a pet?

Let's just talk about dogs.

12. Why doesn't Tarzan have a beard?

This one keeps me up at night.

13. Do you have a job/what do you do?

I work at Joe's. Tell me about the people you know that work at Joe's. We will bond.

14. Play any sports?

I'd characterize orgo as an extreme sport, so yes.

15. Seen any good movies lately?

Okay, so it isn't the most interesting question and is horribly cliche.. let's go to #16.

16. If 4 out of 5 people suffer from diarrhea, does it mean the fifth one enjoys it?

I'm wondering, you're wondering. Let's talk about it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
