Why Being A Hufflepuff Isn't That Bad

While many Hogwarts houses are great, Hufflepuff does not get the recognition it deserves.

Our generation has revolved around Harry Potter. For almost the entirety of my own childhood, there has been a Harry Potter book or movie coming out almost every year. I was, and still am, obsessed with Harry Potter. I love the characters, writing and detail that goes into each chapter of every book. Then when PotterMore came out I of course took the Sorting Hat quiz. I answered all of the questions truthfully and when I was sorted I was a Hufflepuff. At the time I was disappointed that I wasn't a Gryffindor or even a Ravenclaw because I thought they better fit my personality. However I have come to accept that I am a Hufflepuff and I love that I am one. Below are some of the reasons why being a Hufflepuff isn't that bad.

1. We are loyal to a fault

This is a non-brainier. For myself, I am a Cancer and born in the Year of the Dog, so I'm fairly loyal to begin with. However, Hufflepuffs take that to a whole new level. A Hufflepuff will never turn their back on you and always support their friends no matter what. Perhaps that is why Hufflepuffs were the second most represented group at the Battle Of Hogwarts because they always support their friends.

2. Hufflepuffs are kind

One of the best qualities that goes with being a Hufflepuff is that we are kind. While other houses and people may be entertained with the notion of basking in the glory, Hufflepuffs do not. We would much rather see our friends in the spotlight than ourselves. Perhaps this is the reason that there have been the least amount of dark wizards that have come out of Hufflepuff compared to other houses.

3. Hufflepuffs will stand up for what they believe in

This one goes hand in hand with the first two but it is nonetheless accurate. Hufflepuffs will also stand up and speak out when something is wrong. Whether it is standing up for a friend being bullied or speaking out about adversity, we may not be leading the charge but we are just as dedicated to it. Perhaps this is why Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors get along so well and often rely on each other.

4. Hufflepuffs are easy-going

This above all else is probably the reason Hufflepuffs are able to get along with any of the houses. Sure we may not see eye to eye with Slytherins on certain issues but we do see their value. Hufflepuffs are almost always down for most situations and are always down for a fun time or just a relaxing hang out with friends.

Overall, while Hufflepuff does not seem to be the most outlandish of any of the houses we deserve just as much respect as the others. While Gryffindors are brave, Ravenclaws are smart and Slytherins are crafty we Hufflepuffs can be all of these, but the most important is that we know how to bring these qualities togther and that above all else is reason enough to be proud to be a Hufflepuff, however you won't find us bragging about it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
