Everyone struggles with staying motivated, including myself, whether that be studying for exams, working out or eating healthy. We all slip up sometimes, and it's tough to stay motivated all the time. Here are a few tips that I've learned that inspire me to stay on my A game as much as possible.
Start by creating a schedule for yourself. For me, I find that when I have no routine, I start to fall off track. Your schedule doesn't have to be super intense – it can be as simple as "Wake up at 10:00, take dogs for a walk, go to the grocery store." Just make sure you plan out your days with activities to make sure you don't waste your day doing nothing productive.
Seeking outside help has worked for me. I have been telling myself for forever that I would start going to the gym, but I never pushed myself to actually go. To fix this, I hired a trainer once a week to force me to go to my training sessions. This helped a lot, and now I go to the gym almost everyday because working out gives me a schedule and makes me feel good.
Another way to stay motivated is to remind yourself of your goals. Let's say you really don't feel like studying or doing your homework. What's your end goal? Want an A in the class? Want to get into your dream school? This should remind you to put in the work now in order to get what you want in the end, and once you achieve your goals, you'll be happy that you worked so hard.
One tip is to reward yourself for your hard work. Eat some ice cream after finally finishing that paper. Take a break and watch some netflix after a long day at work. Incentives will motivate you to get done whatever needs to get done.
A last piece of advice is to do your activities with a friend. Studying with someone or going to the gym with a buddy can make the boring stuff more fun. Both people will motivate each other.
Staying motivated is difficult, but with the right tools, it can be done.
