Do you ever have those mornings when you hit snooze a few too many times and oversleep—especially on days where you want to look cute for a presentation or to hang out with some friends where you know many pictures are going to be taken? A lot of people will assume that this will never happen to them, but trust me it does happen. Well, you shouldn't have to hit these days head on—instead, you should have a plan of action, so that if this ever did occur, you would be able to handle it like a pro while looking picture perfect in just 10-inutes time. Here are some tips that I've used in the past to make sure I'm never looking sloppy as I run out the door.
Shower at night: If you have the time to blow-dry your hair before you go to bed, then showering the night before a big event is always a good option. Hair also tends to style better when it isn't straight out of the shower, so you'll have the option to even heat up your curling iron in the morning to make your hair movie star perfect.
Lay your outfit out at night: This little trick is something that my momma actually taught me to do ever since I was young. When you lay your outfit out at night, you won't have to spend the time searching through your closet in order to find the perfect look to wear, especially if you have something important going on.
Go for the basics: Opt for a tinted moisturizer over foundation and bronzer when you're running late. As far as makeup goes, mascara and lipstick will make you look like you put time into your makeup when you've only spent a minute on it.
Opt for a sundress: This is my favorite trick of all. Last year, I overslept and was running very late for my history class, as in, I had 10 minutes until it started. I jumped out of bed, ran to my closet, and threw on a sundress. Throughout the day, people kept coming up to me and saying, "Spencer, your outfit is so cute today!" I was stunned, I had zero makeup on, hadn't straightened my hair, but true...my sundress was cute. People tend to overlook flaws if you have a really cute outfit on, so if you're desperate last minute, just throw on a sundress.
Skip the flip-flops: Although flip-flops are easily the fastest choice of footwear when you're scrambling to leave, you'll look much more put together with a pair of booties or sandals.
Have your bag packed: Put your laptop and textbooks in your bag before you go to sleep at night. Make sure you have your wallet and keys in there too, so you never have to go searching around your room for missing items!
Say goodbye to T-shirts and Norts. With these few style tricks, you can get ready fast and look cute and put together as a result.
