How To Tell You're A Daddy's Girl

Being a daddy’s girl doesn’t always mean your dad is just simply spoiling you beyond belief. It can also mean you see your dad not only as your dad but as a best friend, a mentor, and a role model. You definitely know you're a daddy's girl when:

1. You Have A Secret Code

Whether it is when you see someone weird at the grocery store or when your uncle does that thing he always does at the family holiday dinners, you both have that secret code to alert each other what's happening.

2. You Have Good Debates

Even if you both have different views on things such as where you want to go to eat for supper, or whether or not you need more pairs of cowboy boots, you don't mind having a friendly argument or two, even if you do lose.

3. The Dating Talk

...was as short and simple as possible. It was to the point and most importantly, very wise. Because of your dad, you're able to choose the right man for yourself. And he isn't afraid to let you know when you brought home the wrong guy either!

4. You Always Ask Him For Money

You know he'll always have your back and he doesn't mind spoiling you sometimes. Plus, he’ll give you a word of wisdom on how you could save your money (even though he's not very good at it himself.) But if he doesn't have money he always tells Mom to give you some money when you need it.

5. You Have Inside Jokes

That one joke will always have you both laughing hysterically over the dinner table, in the car on a long drive, or in the middle of the store, and no one else gets it, which is basically why it's so hilarious anyways. It's always nice to have a good laugh with your dad anyways.

6. You’re The First Person He Goes To

Whenever holidays come rolling around and he has to buy a gift for Mom, he comes to you because he knows that you know her closet way better than he does. Also, because you’re a girl and that helps too.

7. He Calls You By Your Nickname

Always. He will yell it when he walks in the front door of your work, even if there's a bunch of customers. But you’re not mortified about it, you embrace it because you're the only one who gets lucky enough to be called that.

8. You're His Little Girl

That's really all there is to it. He has treated you like a princess since the day you were born and it will always stay that way no matter how old you become.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
