"Do you want to hang out?" "You should really come to my charity event tonight and donate to the cause." "Can you send me the homework answers?"
People nowadays can't do anything by themselves, so they will probably come to you with their stupid problems or requests. Trust me, I'm not a terrible person for not wanting to do things for other people; I just have a lot of responsibilities and naps to take. And since I am just too kind to bluntly say 'no' to people, I've had to devise other methods to crush their small, fragile hearts. Feel free to use them.
1. Completely avoid them
And act dumb when they ask if you've read your texts. For all they know, you've been under a rock for the last five days.
2. Throw a pie in their face and run away
They definitely will not ask you for any favors after this one.
3. Force yourself to have a heart attack
Then you don't have to respond at all to what they say.
4. Post pictures of you complaining about your incredibly busy life on your Snapchat story
Let other people know that you want absolutely nothing to do with them and their problems at the current moment because you've got your own life to freak out about.
5. Start spouting random facts related to the class that you're stressed about
So they understand that the only thing on your mind is studying and not their Christian Club's potluck party.
6. Destroy something they love
So they can focus on grieving instead of asking you to do anything for them.
7. Chant Satanic hymns at them
Until they get freaked out and leave or until they join you.
Originally, this was a serious article about my inability to say 'no' to people and to respect my own limits. So, I encourage you to say 'no' if you ever feel like you are being taken advantage of or if you feel like agreeing to something would be too much for you to handle. It's great to do things for other people, but don't forget to care for yourself.
