It’s important to start every new year on a good note, it sets the tone for the start of the year. This is a whole other year to start fresh , here are some tips to make the most out of your 2018!

Trust yourself more, you know what you want and need. Don’t let other people influence you into things that aren’t good for you. Be your own person. Sometimes your gut feeling is your best friend

Save time for yourself this year. I know, i know, “but i have to do this and get this and help this person “. No, breathe and take care of yourself. You can not help anyone else without helping yourself first. Take some time to take care of yourself so that you can better take care of other things. It’ll turn out a lot better in the long run.

Let the little things count. Even if it is a simple smile from a stranger passing by. Those are the little things to remember. The smallest acts of kindness are what we should cherish. You’ll be happier in the long run if you let go on negativity and focus on the smaller hints in life that bring us little bursts of joy.

Cut out the toxic people from your life. If they aren’t contributing good things in your life and aren’t looking out for you, you don’t need them in your life. Fill your life with people who care about your well being and want to see you do well.

Don’t be afraid to try new things. This is a new year, which means new adventures. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, you might find out you loved something you’ve never tried before. Don’t keep yourself confined to a certain pattern. You will enjoy life more if you don’t take things so seriously.

The mistakes you made in 2017 do not define who you are in 2018. This is a new year for you to express yourself and enjoy life to the fullest. There’s going to be tough times, but there is also going to be some unforgettable moments. As the year comes to a close, focus on all the good times you had in 2017. Enjoy the holidays with your friends and family. Do things you’ve never done before, make memories!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
