Summer is just around the corner for most high school students. It's already here for a lot of college students. We all look forward to the carefree joys of the next few months: no school work, time to hang with friends, and for most of us a job. Now, with the summer rush coming in fast, I want to talk about how to have fun this summer without drinking. Hard to believe, I know, but it is possible.
1. Spend time with people who make you happy
When you're with people you love you don't need anything else.
2. Do something you enjoy
Being at an event you love could possibly be ruined by getting drunk.
3. Enjoy the moment for what it is, and not try to "enhance" it
Drinking might seem to make things better, but it's a depressant and can turn a wonderful night into something sad.
4. Do be afraid to act silly together.
If you can be silly sober, you don't need the alcohol.
5. You'll feel better in the morning.
Hangovers are awful. Instead of waking up with a pounding head and a stomach ache; you can wake up refreshed.
There is nothing wrong with a casual drink now and then, or a safe night out. It's when someone becomes dependent on drinking to have a good time that it becomes a problem. Drink smart.Drink safe. Enjoy the summer!
