We all know those people who we are surprised by because they have their license, and yet they DON'T KNOW HOW TO DRIVE. So please share this with your fellow "friends" on the road as a passive aggressive message or a very well thought out hint.

1. The Blinker

Look at your steering wheel. Now look to the left. Do you see a lever sticking out? That's called a turn signal. USE IT. PLEASE. You never want to be that rude jerk who last minute switches lanes without letting other drivers know. This not only angers A LOT of people, but this can also very easily cause accidents. You're not the only one on the road, so stop acting like it, and be respectful of other drivers.

2. The Horn

I understand the use of a car horn. If someone cuts you off, please use the horn. If someone DOESN'T USE THEIR BLINKER (refer back to #1), please use your horn. However, if it takes someone less than 3 seconds to start driving when the light turns green, please don't be ignorant and lay on your horn. If someone is driving the speed limit and you're used to going 20 over, please don't lay on your horn. As previously stated, please be respectful because you're not the only one on the road.

3. The Left Lane

Hey, you see those lines in the middle of the road? The dotted ones? Do you also see those people to the left of you, driving faster than you? No, they're not racing you. THEY'RE PASSING YOU. It's an actual fact that you can get pulled over by driving too slow in the left lane. It is STRICTLY FOR PASSING. Or fast drivers. Please do not go 5 mph under the speed limit in the left lane. Please do not cruise in the left lane, and kindly switch over to the right, BUT USE YOUR BLINKER BEFORE YOU DO. THANKS.

4. Texting and Driving

DON'T DO IT. JUST DON'T DO IT. I have already personally known two people who have died from texting and driving. I know how cheesy this sounds, but is one text worth it? There is no emergency important enough to put your life on the line. You can look down for two seconds and think nothing will happen, and then all of a sudden someone pulls in front of you, or goes through a red light. You might have seen these things happen and prevented them, but you were too busy texting. IS it worth it?

5. High Beams

High beams are great when there aren't many street lights and it is night time. High beams AREN'T great when you're passing a car that has them on. LITERALLY BLINDING. It takes less than two seconds to turn them off when you pass another car, so that you don't blind the opposing driver. What's even cooler, is that you can turn them RIGHT BACK ON when you PASS THE CAR! Fascinating, I know.

6. Know Where You Are

City driving is a lot different than driving in town. I HIGHLY suggest if you are used to driving in town, STAY IN TOWN or get someone else to drive. Or take a bus. It is hard enough to drive in the city, but when you get behind someone who doesn't know how to get places in the city, it is an actual nightmare. Also, it will be a nightmare for you if you've never experienced it yourself.

Good luck, and happy SMART driving!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
