“Raleigh be the city where we like to do the dance.” If you are like me, by the end of the first line of "Do the John Wall" already has you feeling nervous. Isn’t Raleigh in North Carolina? Isn’t that in the South? Why isn’t this a country song?

“Flex to the left throw some money out ya hands” Now you are thinking, which way is the left? This is just too fast for me. Am I flexing and throwing money with the same hand? This is too complicated. Someone please explain this to me.

“We do it for the city, ya we do it for the fans, to ball like Wall boy you gotta do the dance. Everybody to the John Wall, John Wall, John Wall, John Wall, John Wall, John Wall, John Wall, John Wall.” Yeah, I’m over this song already. I’ll just go find some of my friends I lost and get some water or something.

For many, myself included, dancing has just never come easy. We do like to move it, move it. But, it just doesn’t happen naturally. Even the songs with instructions like the classic Cha Cha Slide are hard to keep up with at times.

However, I have done a lot of research and I think I may have some quality tips. So that next time “Do The John Wall” comes on, you can dance to it confidently and gracefully.

First of all, you must embody John Wall.

Connect with him on a spiritual level. Imagine yourself on a basketball court and you just got a basket for your team which pulls you ahead at the very last second. Your team has won and you get to move on. You are a hero. What are you going to do? You are going to do the John Wall.

It is so much more than a flick of the wrist and a lean to the left. John Wall has character, so you too must have character. Be strong. Be confident. And, if you are feeling brave, maybe even try singing along to the chorus.

So, once you are ready to dance, follow these steps:

  1. When the song says "flex to the left," flex your left arm.
  2. When the song says "throw some money out ya hands," it gets a little more complicated. What you need to do is act like you are throwing dice. So shake them around a few times, then let them roll. If you need to use actual dice the first few times so you really get a hang of it, go for it. A die won’t hurt anyone if it hits them accidentally. Fun fact: you do not need to actually throw money out of your hands. Everyone is free to do the John Wall without being at risk for loosing dollars.
  3. When the song says "we do it for the city, ya we do it for the fans," just throw your hands up and move them from left to right.
  4. When the song says to "ball like Wall then you gotta do the dance," pretend to shoot a basket. This step is the most complicated and will most likely need the most practice.
  5. When the song says "do the John Wall (x8)" then just flex your left arm again and twist your wrist from facing inwards to outwards over and over again.

Once the verses start, you’re on your own. My only advice is trying copying those around you. They know what they are doing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
