The past few weeks I have been going through my stuff. My sisters and I are switching rooms and it is a hot mess. Since I will be away at school I get the smallest room, sad I know. While going through my things I found 7 things besides clothes to get rid of.
1. Beauty Supplies
At first these were hard for me to part with. But, do I really need twenty bottles of lotion, spray, and other miracle creams? No. Especially because you know you only use your favorite scent. Not to mention how many travel and trial size bottles I had.
2. Jewelry
While rummaging through my drawer I found bracelets from girl scout camp, BFF necklaces, and earrings from my high school. None of these items are needed anymore.
3. Bad Photos
Whether it be the photo is bad quality, or you just look bad. Toss them all.
4. Shoes
I don't care if you've had them for years and they were your favorite. If you don't wear them now then get rid of them!
5. Documents
Now there are some things you might want to keep. But, that receipt from culvers two years ago? Or that research paper you wrote four years ago? If you are really that concerned with keeping it then keep a digital file instead.
6. Makeup
Makeup expires just like food does. It is important to keep an eye on the life expectancy. Also, beware about bacteria being on your brushes after you've had a cold or illness.
7. Makeup Bags
I love using those little bags for pencils, hair accessories, and other travel items. However, once you have more bags than you do makeup you know you have a problem.
8. Storage Containers
I love organizing so this was the most difficult one for me. I had containers with nothing in them, that kind of defeats the purpose!
9. School Supplies
Old backpacks, notebooks, and even binders were in my get rid of pile. If I'm not going to use them this year then what am I waiting for?
10. Gifts You Don't Use
You don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but you really aren't benefiting from keeping it. Re-gift it or donate it to goodwill. Either way hopefully it ends up with someone who actually wants it.
Also, if you are having a hard time parting with something ask someone else's opinion! Most of the time they will be brutally honest.
