I may be a 22-year-old female college student, but I know next to nothing about makeup and skin care. I flat out mean that I make a horrible girl. So recently when my sister contacted me beyond excited about this "Youniqe makeup" she became a consultant of, I had no idea what she was talking about.

"The pigments are phenomenal."

"You can use these 3-D fibers to make your eyelashes pop even more."

"And oh my gosh, wait until you see our face masks!"

I was already so overwhelmed because I know so little about makeup and here she was all excited going on about pigments and fibers.

WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!

Like any basic girl in your life, I did what we all do and I went to my friends that actually know about makeup. I told them about this brand and what questions I should be asking first.

So now here we are.

We compiled a 'brief' list of questions to have answered and we found some answers, to hopefully help us understand what is just soooo great about this makeup.

Alright, Hannah. What is the big deal about Younique makeup versus anything I can buy at Target or Walmart?

Hannah: Younique isn't like any other makeup that I have ever used. It is made with all natural products that are also anti-aging. I mean that right there is a major seller because let's be honest, we only have one skin to live in, so why not take care of it now when we can?! All the products are also made to work together in some way. Whether you are using the glorious touch primer with the mineral touch foundation or the eye primer with the eyeshadows. And our skincare is the same way. I can't just tell you that one product is going to take care of all your problems because they are made to work together so you may need a regimen of things. But I promise using a regimen consistently will make a world of difference for you and your skin!

Since our products are all natural based, we don't test on animals or use any animal byproducts, which I found is a huge thing people look for when buying and using makeup. Our company is all about ingredients that are good for your skin. We actually ban over 1,000 more chemicals than other U.S. brands do in their cosmetics because we are E.U. certified which allows us to do that!

Can you tell me why you PERSONALLY love the Younique line so much?

Hannah: I have ALWAYS had trouble skin growing up, and when I would use makeup from Walmart, Target, etc., it always felt like the makeup was caked on and almost like my skin was suffocating because all of my pores were being clogged. So not only did it make my acne worse, but I basically hated wearing it because I didn't like the feeling of it on. But now using our Younique foundation, primer and so on, I now not only know what it feels like to have a flawless look, but I actually feel good on the inside too because my skin doesn't feel like it is suffocating everytime I wear makeup.

What is something you're proud of that Younique does that people may not know about?

Hannah: Younique's mission statement is actually " We inspire hope in women who were sexually abused as children or adolescents by providing healing services through retreats, survivor communities, and online resources. We empower parents and caregivers to protect children from sexual abuse through education and online resources. We make it safe to openly discuss sexual abuse through community dialogue and social awareness." That was just another reason for me to fall in love with Younique. It's nice to know that not only are we helping women feel more confident in their own skin and empowering them, but we are also helping those who have been sexually assaulted. That's a big deal in my eyes.

What products does Younique carry? Is it only makeup or do you also have skin care products?

Hannah: We carry both skin care and makeup! All of our products are natural based products and have anti-aging in them. And, our makeup has a very light but flawless finish! Younique has some products that go on as liquids or creams but finish as powders, while others go on as powders but finish as creams! There are so many different colors and we carry a great variety of different products. And when it comes to our skincare, it is to die for! It too has anti-aging, but we also have products for all different skin types; dry, wrinkly, redness, oily skin, etc. You name it, we have it!

What coverage is the foundation? Is it sheer, medium, full, buildable?

Hannah: Our liquid foundation is medium overage. However, if you need extra coverage for a difficult breakout or uneven skin tones, our concealer is a must have! You not only can use it for extra coverage, but you can get it a shade or two lighter than your liquid foundation and use it as a highlighter (which works great)! Why not kill two birds with one stone if you can?

I have a large, bright red birthmark on my face under my eye that often gets mistaken for a black eye or a bad breakout. How does your foundation and/or concealer work with birthmarks and any other skin tags?

Hannah: Our products do a great job at covering up birthmarks and some skin tags. Like I've said before and will continue to say, our products are made to work together, so to cover up a large birthmark, you may need to use a few products such as liquid touch foundation and some concealer depending on how much coverage you want. But I'm sure we can work together and find the best products for your skin.

How can you find out your match of the foundation, concealer, etc., when you can't always do it in person? How is it set up so the color is right?

Hannah: I myself can color match you. When I have someone that needs to be matched, I will usually ask for a few things. I ask you to take a picture of yourself (face and neck) in natural lighting with no makeup on so I can get a good idea of the color and skin type you have. I then will ask if you burn, burn then tan, or tan. This allows me to know the color tones that are found in your skin; neutral, cool (pink, blush-red, or nuddy) or warm (yellow to olive) undertones.

Do you have a large range of colors?

Hannah: Yes, we have a wide range of colors in all of our products! Which is great because many people like to use our makeup not only for every day but to do holiday make-up as well.

Are Younique products cruelty-free?

Hannah: I'm happy to say that ALL of our products are indeed cruelty-free!

Okay, so at least to me, this line already sounds great. But what is the shelf life of the products?

Hannah: Since each product is different, the shelf life can vary. But for the most part, if only one person is using the product, each one lasts at least a few months!

How well do the products stay on? Do they last all day?

Hannah: It will stay on all day, however, using the setting powder or spray will make it look even nicer than if you didn't use it! Not necessary, just an added perk!

What is the application process like?

Hannah: As far as applying the makeup, the process can be different each time depending on what kind of look you are wanting to accomplish. If you are going for a simple look, you will want to apply the face and eye primer on about 5 minutes before you start applying any makeup.This allows your primer time to set. I personally always do my eyes first that way you won't mess up your foundation and contour after getting it perfect. Applying it this way also allows you to clean up your eyes easier if needed. After your eyes are done, you can move onto your face. If you have dry skin you may want to use our BB cream with your liquid foundation giving your face more moisture. And IMPORTANT TO KNOW: you only need about 3 to 4 drops of the foundation because a little goes a long way with our products. If you're also using concealer, you will want to apply it to the needed areas, and then use a dampened blender brush to blend the concealer in. When blending, you want to make sure you don't blend too much or too little.

I personally like to use the setting powder after I apply concealer so that it stays in place and doesn't go anywhere. You then can contour if you want. Lastly, I end with my lips and setting my whole look with either the setting spray or powder!

Earlier I asked you if you carry only skincare or makeup, or both. Can you give me some specifics on the range of your makeup products?

Hannah: We have it all. For foundations, we have anything from liquids to powders. Our eyeshadows are cream and powder, matte and shimmery. We have liquid and pencil eyeliners, and one and two-step mascaras. We have primers. For lips, we have lip gloss, lipstick, powder to cream lipstick, lip liners and lip stains. We have everything for contouring, and so much more! Then for skincare, we have face washes, masks, serums, moisturizer and more!

Do you HAVE to use the eye primer before using the eyeshadows?

Hannah: You do not have to use the primer first, but I highly recommend it. Using the primer keeps the eyeshadow from creasing and gives an even brighter look. It also keeps your eyes looking as good at the end of the night as it did when you first applied it!

Are there Younique parties?

Hannah: Yes! There are many ways we can do parties; online, facebook, home parties, etc.!

Time for my last question for you. Do you feel like Younique has an impact on your relationship with your young daughter and your home life?

Hannah: Yes, I feel like it can. Not only am I able to help empower other women, but it also allows me to keep a strong bond with my daughter. I am able to stay home and take care of her while working at home, but that also allows me to be at home for each of her important milestones. Once she gets a little older, it will also help me show her that she can cherish and feel beautiful in her own skin. That all of us have flaws and that's okay! Younique, not only allows me to be here for my daughter, but it also gives me the ability to help with our bills and take some of that financial stress off of my husband.

After doing this interview with Hannah, she did my makeup and I was floored with how much I loved the turnout. To be honest, I didn't really believe that the foundation and concealer would be able to cover up my birthmark, but as you can see in the picture above, she made it disappear.
