How Nick Jonas' "Jealous" is Detrimental to Relationships Everywhere

When I think of Nick Jonas, I do not think of a jealous, hellish, obsessed boyfriend. Yet this is exactly how he presents himself in his new song "Jealous."

In an interview for perezhilton.com, Nick Jonas expressed that his new song "Jealous" was about jealousy in a romantic setting, but all I grasp from this song is how jealousy can so easily destroy a relationship, especially when someone in that relationship thinks in the manner of Nick's song.

"I don't like the way he's looking at you

I'm starting to think you want him too.

Am I crazy, have I lost ya?

Even though I know you love me, can't help it"

The lyrics of this song are riddled with insecurities and overly jealous behavior, and it sets a horrible example for relationships. Just because a girl is being admired from afar does NOT mean she wants to be with said admirer. Pretty girls get admired, just like attractive guys do. It's not her fault, and it is definitely no reason to assume she wants another guy. She is with YOU for a reason, and accusing her of wanting another guy is not healthy.

"I wish you didn't have to post it all

I wish you'd save a little bit just for me

Protective or possessive, yeah

Call it passive or aggressive"

It's not fair to hide a pretty girl up in a bubble and expect her to conform to what you want her to be. There is definitely a fine line between protective and possessive.

This doesn't just go for guys. Girls shouldn't just expect their boyfriends to hide their good qualities so that no one else will find them attractive; that's simply unfair. I feel that these lyrics bring about a sense of insecurity more than simple jealousy.

"Can call me obsessed

It's not your fault that they hover

I mean no disrespect

It's my right to be hellish

I still get jealous"

Jealousy is not an unavoidable topic in a relationships. It happens all of the time. But there is a different in simple jealousy over incidents like someone winking at your partner than there is dictating their life because of your own insecurities.

"Jealous" is a song that does not just speak on common jealousy in a relationship, but how that jealousy can easily ruin a relationship by showcasing the insecurities and obsessiveness of a jealous partner. A little jealousy isn't harmful to a relationship, but as this song is written, Nick Jonas' type of "jealous" is not one that a relationship should EVER have to deal with.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
