How A Long Distance Relationship Can Be Challenging And Rewarding

Couples who are in long-distance relationships usually use the saying “absence makes the heart grow fonder” to not only use it explain their relationship to people, but to even reassure themselves in their own relationship. Long distance relationships are not for everyone. Being hundreds or even thousands of miles away from your significant other can cause your relationship to be extremely challenging, but being able to be face-to-face with your significant other for the first time in months makes everything that much sweeter.

Challenges of being in a long distance relationship

1. Loneliness

Looking at other couples, that lets be honest seem to be everywhere when you are not with your significant can make you feel quite lonely.

2. Different Time Zones

It may be difficult being able to be to share your life with someone when you are both on different schedules. Making time in your relationship and communication is very important even if you have wake up at 5 am and that may be the time when your significant may be going to sleep.

3. Overthinking

We over think every single day, but when you are in a long distance relationship you tend to go a little overboard in that department. We tend to create these unnecessary scenarios in our head of what they may be doing because we are not with them 24/7. Being in that type of relationship trust is key or you will literally go stir bat crazy.

Rewards of being in a long distance relationship

1. You get a free “get out of jail card” of looking presentable

You don’t want to shave your legs? That’s completely okay because the love of your life is half way across the world so why do you need to look polished all of the time?

2. You both are forced to become independent within your relationship

You both have separate friends or maybe even lives in your relationship, but you still share everything with your significant other. You learn to branch out on your own and learn you don’t need him to do everything for you and you don't need to do everything with him.

3. Your love is better than the Notebook

Nicolas Sparks who? Being a part from your significant other for so long causes you to become creative and more romantic. Being hundreds of miles away from the love of your life to seeing them for just one day can seem dreamier than a movie.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
