How Kamala Harris is the new icon

Almost everyone in the World has been following the United States' elections for the last couple of weeks, and everyone knows how thrilling it was. The main story is probably Joe Biden winning, but let us not forget another person that made history.

Yes, I am talking about Kamala Harris.

Kamala made history last week by being elected as the first woman to be an elected United States Vice President. But, that is not it. She is not only the first woman to be elected as the Vice President, she is also the first Black and Asian-American woman to be crowned as the Vice President.

Since Kamala is a history-maker, let's know about her a little bit more.

Biography and Facts:

Kamala was born in Oakland, California. She is a daughter of two immigrant parents; a Jamaican father and an Indian mother. She was mainly raised by her mother, who happens to be a cancer researcher and a civil rights activist.

Kamala was born on 20th of October, 1964. Which makes her fifty six years old, with an average height of 1.6m, and according to this meters to feet conversion tool, 5ft. and 2 inches.

Career:

Kamala studied political sciences and economics at the Howard University in 1986 and later on in 1989, earned her degree of Law from Hastings College. She also worked as a Deputy Attorney in Oakland from 1990 to 1998. She rose through ranks and in 2004, became the district attorney. She also made history back in 2010 by being the first female African American attorney general of California, winning by just a margin of one percent.

She has worked hard all her life. She made valuable steps for immigrants and criminal-justice reforms. She also worked for the protection of the women's reproductive rights, which made it all a bit too easy for her to win the elections in 2016.

Kamala was known for the way she dealt with the witnesses during case prosecutions. Although it brew criticism by the Republican senators, but she had already made her mark.

Later on, Kamala finally announced that she was looking forward for being nominated for the President in 2020 through the Democratic Party. She was deemed to be as one of the leading contenders for the presidency race, but she drew attention when she had an argument with, who now is the President of the United States, Joe Biden. The disagreement was known to be on school busing in the 70s and 80s and other race-related topics.

Harris' support grew initially but the September of 2019, her campaign met trouble and in the December, she pulled herself out of the race.

Now:

Kamala Harris has worked hard all her life and proved in every step how qualified she is to take charge of the Vice President's seat. She is not only a symbol for people to put in all their hard work, but also an epitome for Women Empowerment and all of us hope to see her doing wonders for our women.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
