When a teenager first gets their permit, it grants them the ability to finally drive- which is probably one of the biggest milestones one can fulfil. Being able to drive as a teen, it gives one you much freedom. You don't have to depend on your parents for everything, you can meet up with your friends more often, hangout, etc. There are a lot of fun things that driving offers. But, along with these fun things, it's very important to follow the rules of the road. After all, the rules do exist for the purpose of your safety.

So many things can go wrong when you're driving- even if it isn't your fault at all. This is why it's important to follow the rules and pay full attention to your surroundings. It's really easy to get distracted when you're driving- especially if you're with your friends jamming to music and having the best time of your life. But, you can never let these things distract you from driving because when you have other people in the car, you're not only putting yourself at risk, but you're also putting everyone in the car at risk. Once a mistake has been made, no matter how much you might regret it, there's no going back.

When driving, it's very important to make sure you're making smart choices. In humans, the part of the brain that is responsible for our judgement and decision making is the frontal lobe. As teens, our frontal lobe isn't fully developed, which is why a lot of teen driving accidents happen with bad decision making. So, it's very important that when you make a decision, you think twice or more times about it.

It's very crucial to watch out for pedestrians walking around and bicyclists. Pedestrians and bicyclists are at a high risk if you're not paying attention and they're trying to cross the road. You need to make sure that you're sharing the road with them and are taking note of your surroundings.

As a teen driver, you are granted a lot more freedom to do what you want. But with that freedom, comes a lot more responsibility. Driving is a huge step into being considered as an adult. So it's always important that you're making wise decisions and being thoughtful of your surroundings.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
