If you live in a major city such as New York, you are bound to run into a celebrity at some point. Whether it be randomly at a store, or if you're going to a specific meeting place for an event. Some people may not be surprised at all when they see a well known person, but if you're like me then you will understand the feeling of pure excitement when you spot a celebrity.
While living in Brooklyn for the past two years, the celebrities that I've randomly seen in public have been Michael Cera, Sebastian Stan, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas (on a separate occasion), Jérôme Jarre (from Vine), Brandon Stanton aka the HONY photographer (at his book signing), Michael Cera (again) with David Cross, and AnnaSophia Robb. I have friends who have seen different celebrities out and about as well like Dylan Sprouce, Kenan Thompson, James Franco, even Shia Labeaouf and have had similar experiences.
So you're minding your own business, not really looking for anything but then you scan a random person's face and have to do a double take.
YES you're eye sight is not failing you, that IS the celebrity you've seen in movies and online!! YES THIS IS REAL LIFE.
So now what do you do!? Do you say hi? Do you ask for a picture? They surprisingly look exactly the same in real life, which shouldn't be surprising. You need to do something but don't want to be rude ... HOW DOES THIS WORK!? *fangirling*
You know that if you get a pic with them you'll get all the likes, plus get to show off that you got to TOUCH THEM!!!
They're walking away ... They look busy ... But this is your chance! THIS IS SO COOL, WHAT IS LIFE!? You decide you're too afraid to approach them so you act like you're taking a selfie in attempt to get a photo of their back.
At the same time your heart is pumping in fear that they'll notice even if they're walking away.
Sometimes, acting like you're taking a picture of your friend is a great way to sneak in the celebs! (Michael Cera and David Cross in the background lol).
But when you actually gather the courage to approach someone you admire and talk to them, it's the coolest experience ever. Especially when they're super friendly to their fans!
(Me and Jérôme Jarre from Vine when I saw him in Union Square!!)
(When I met Brandon Stanton, the photographer of Humans of New York, at his book signing in Dumbo!!)
Being able to meet a well known person that you admire out in the world may make you love them even more! Remembering how excited I was to meet these people always makes me happy, especially because these interactions happened when I least expected it. Of course I wish that I was brave enough to say hi and get a picture with the other well known people I've seen, but they were still the coolest experiences ever!!!
