Facebook is constantly filled with political rants, commentary and statements on multiple sides of the political spectrum. One tagline that is easily recognizable is "Make America Great Again." How exactly can we achieve this greatness? We need to make a few serious advancements.
1. Healthcare reform
All around the world, there are a ton of nations with universal healthcare, including Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Chile, Estonia, Ireland and Denmark. These ten nations happen to have a more "free economy" than the United States does. It's really unfortunate living in a nation where some people need to decide whether it's worth the money they need to pay in order to get healthcare if they cannot afford insurance.

2. Environmental Awareness
Countless scientists have stated that global warming has become an overwhelming issue. It can lead to devastating issues within the environment including the extinction of vital species of animals. Since President Trump has been in office, he reduced the budget for the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) to 8.6 Billion, the lowest it has been in 40 years. The budget for the EPA is just .2% of the nation's budget! The environment is something that truly needs to be invested in. It needs to be recognized that without regulation, humans can easily destroy the environment and potentially make it extremely difficult to live in. Global warming exists and it's a huge issue that cannot be ignored!
3. Jobs
Jobs are a rising issue within the United States, in part due to how many products are outsourced through different nations, such as China. A huge example of this is Donald Trump's merchandise is overwhelmingly made in China or other countries. While this may be cheaper for the company, it fails to provide jobs for unemployed Americans. If more major companies had factories in America, there would be more jobs, thus creating more money flow, creating a better nationwide economy.
4. Education
As someone who attended public school all of my life, I can attest that there are sometimes problems with public school buildings. For example, my high school barely had air conditioning and we did not have a good auditorium. My school, however, was functioning well, we had a large amount of AP and honors classes and extracurricular activities. There are some schools, however that do not have enough funding, thus, they aren't able to help educate students as well as they should. With a Secretary of Education who doesn't seem to be very invested in public education, it is alarming that there is a strong possibility that schools in low-income areas will be neglected or not receive enough funding to provide ample opportunities for its students to learn and succeed. We need a stronger education system in America as children are the future!
5. Tolerance
I feel that not mentioning tolerance would be doing a major injustice. I completely understand people come from various different backgrounds and experiences. However, there should be a common tolerance for conflicting ideas. The amount of sheer racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and countless other "phobias" in America is ridiculous. America is supposed to be a melting pot of cultures. People come to America for a fresh start and for countless opportunities that may not be available in other parts of the world. The more ideas that circulate, the more we are able to learn and apply to our lives. However, this country should be no place for bigotry, arrogance, or extremists.
Granted this list isn't even remotely long enough to reflect the changes this nation needs to make, but it's a pretty decent start. I never thought I would ever say this statement, but I really hope this country can actually work towards "Making America Great Again."
