The new show "House of DVF" premiered this past Sunday on E! Network at 10 p.m. right after the premier of "Kourtney and Khloe Take the Hamptons." Over the past few weeks I had seen commercials for it, but I wasn’t very sold. Regardless, I tuned in for the premier and it is safe to say that I’m completely, 100 percent addicted! I’m going to give you the gist of the show without spoiling it, so if you find yourself wanting to know more, you’ll have to watch it.
Set in New York City, "House of DVF" follows fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg as she searches for a potential global ambassador for her brand. While initially 10, there are now eight contestants competing for DVF’s heart, and things are already beginning to heat up.
For their first “assignment” the girls were attended a DVF event held at the United Nations. This was your typical Hollywood affair, complete with A-list celebrities like Sarah Jessica-Parker and Alisha Keys. It was clear that nothing less than perfection would suffice.
The girls were each assigned specific tasks for the evening, which ranged from catering to PR to being on stage to help hand out awards. There were several cringe-worthy moments during the event, the least of which being when one of the contestants had to be removed from the party on a gurney! Needless to say, DVF was not impressed.
Of course, no E! show would be complete without girl drama. I’m ashamed to admit that I LOVE watching catfights. It’s a train wreck you just can’t take your eyes from, and "House of DVF" is stuffed with it. Almost every woman competing is full of herself and when you get a group of narcissistic females in the same room together, fun things are bound to happen.
There are a few sweethearts among the bunch, but your attention can’t help but be drawn to the egomaniacs. In their first official meeting with Diane von Furstenberg they even began ratting other women out for comments and actions made the previous night. This was only episode one!
Now, I will give credit where credit is due. All of these women are clearly very successful and have worked incredibly hard to get where they are. For this, I applaud them. However, this success doesn’t seem to prevent the claws from coming out, and believe me, they’re out.
Who will have what it takes?
Tune in Sundays at 10 p.m. on E! to find out!
