Honor Must Be A Culture Throughout Our Lives

Yesterday in a house of peace, or cell group, I taught a message about honor. The teaching was so impactful that I wanted to share it with all of you. The origin of honor is God because he honors himself. How does he honor himself? He honors himself by never going against his word. The word honor means to esteem or to value, or to hold something at a high position. Unfortunately, many of our blessings are put on hold because there isn't enough honor. Here are some important things we must know about honor.

Honor is a culture in King Jesus Ministry.
I am so honored and privileged to be a part of my church, King Jesus Ministry. The people I have surrounded myself with live a lifestyle of honor. Whether I give to them or they give to me, but we are always and constantly blessing one another. For birthdays, for weddings, celebrations, you name it! In our church, we are constantly and consistently blessing each other.

The kingdom of God is a kingdom of rewards.
It is better to give than to receive! God rewards us when he sees how much we honor him. Also, God cannot be mocked. He knows our intentions and if we honor or bless someone so that we can put it on blast or so that we can show it to the world. In the language of God, honor translates his nature.

In times of crisis, we must make sure that we are honoring God.
When someone puts their trust in God, he takes care of them. I have never seen someone poor that has put their faith and trust in God.

The area where we dishonor God is the area where our faith will not work.
Faith cannot take the place of honor! We must honor him in the areas that we need growth in. If we need a car, we must honor someone that has a car so that God can bless us. If we need to develop a prayer life, we must honor someone that prays. The list goes on.

How must we honor God?
1. Obedience. Every time that he speaks to us, we must listen and obey what he instructs us to do. Sometimes we run into making mistakes out of disobedience and rebellion toward him. We must choose to obey him even when we don’t understand what he is trying to tell us. When we obey God, we honor him with our will. In other words, we surrender our will to him.
2. Praise & Worship. Our prayer and devotional is key to honoring God. This is essential because when we praise and worship God, we honor him with our time. In other words, we are telling God that even though we have a billion things to do, our time with him is more important than anything else.
3. Words. Our words must speak life onto others! If we participate in gossip, cussing, or declaring negative things over people’s lives, then we must check our hearts. This goes onto God, as well. When we participate in these things, we are dishonoring God and his people. God is love, and he doesn’t offend or judge.
4. Thoughts. Our thoughts must be holy! We must cast out every evil thought so that it doesn’t give birth to sin in our life! Our thoughts become actions, which give way to habits. Our habits will bring forth character, and our character will take us into our destiny. Therefore, our thoughts are extremely important. Every thought of leaving God’s will starts with a thought!
5. Service. We must serve God in our local church and be available to volunteer. When was the last time that we served as an usher, or in the worship team? When was the last time that we decided to go to a church event and bring people with us? All of this ties with service. When we don’t serve God in our church and local community, we dishonor him.
6. Excellence. Everything we do for God must come with excellence! Even if it costs money, it must be done well. If musicians can gather extravagant concerts with large sceneries and lights, why cannot Christian ministers produce spectacular things for Jesus? We must think globally, because that is the way that God thinks. God didn’t give us mediocrity! He gave his son, his most wonderful and precious possession. If he gave us his best, why can’t we give God our best?

Thank you guys for reading! I pray that it ministers to your lives. If you have any questions or comments feel free to reply to this. Have a wonderful rest of the day! God bless you!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
