The Going Home Playlist

It's that time of year again. The holidays are upon us and that means everyone is getting ready to make their way home to family, friends and good food. In my case, my time abroad is coming to a close, and I will be headed back to the States after a semester of living in London and traveling all over Europe. As bittersweet as this is, nothing gets me more excited than a playlist filled with songs about home sweet home. So whether you're coming home after a long three months away, or simply taking a road-trip home for a long weekend, this playlist is sure to get you ready for the comforts of home, wherever that may be.

Who Says You Can't Go Home - Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles

Favorite lyric: You take the home from the boy, but not the boy from his home/These are my streets, the only life I've ever known/Who says you can't go home

Home - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Favorite lyric: Let me come home/Home is wherever I'm with you

This City - Patrick Stump

Favorite lyric: Cause this city is my city/And I love it, yeah I love it/I was born and raised here/I got it made here/And if I have my way, I'm gonna stay here

Don't Forget Where You Belong - One Direction

Favorite lyric: Been a lot of places/I've been all around the world/Seen a lot of faces/Never knowing where I was/On the horizon/Oh, well, I know, I know, I know, I know the sun will be rising/Back home

Home - Daughtry

Favorite lyric: I'm going to the place where love/And feeling good don't ever cost a thing

Homeward Bound - Simon & Garfunkel

Favorite lyric: Homeward bound/Home where my thought's escaping/Home where my music's playing

A Face to Call Home - John Mayer

Favorite lyric: You got me swaying right along to the song in your heart/And a face to call home

Nashville - Noah Gundersen

Favorite lyric: It's a long, long way back to Nashville/Where I come from, where I been/It's a long, long way back to Nashville/But I promise I will see you again

Almost Home - Ben Rector

Favorite lyric: And with all that noise around me/I found a peace that I could call my own/And we're almost home

arms - Christina Perri

Favorite lyric: You put your arms around me and I'm home

Take Me Home, Country Roads - John Denver

Favorite lyric: Country roads, take me home to the place I belong

Fix You - Coldplay

Favorite lyric: Lights will guide you home/And ignite your bones

Home - Phillip Phillips

Favorite lyric: If you get lost, you can always be found/Just know you're not alone/'Cause I'm gonna make this place your home

Hopefully, this playlist gets you even more excited to be back home, snuggled on your couch and surrounded by family than you already are. Wherever life takes you, I hope you can always find a place to call home.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
