You're Not Doing The Holidays Right If You Don't Watch These 10 Movies

'Tis the season to be a couch potato.

You're Not Doing The Holidays Right If You Don't Watch These 10 Movies

The month of December is for watching holiday movies while stuffing your face with your loved ones. Here are 10 prime movie choices—to be honest, if you don't watch at least one of these before the 25th, I'm judging you. And so is Santa.

1. "A Christmas Story."

Okay, duh, this made it to the list because this one is a classic. I mean, if you don't watch a little blond boy get low-key traumatized over having a Beebee gun, was it really Christmas?

2. "Elf."

After Buddy "passed through the seven levels of the Candy Cane forest, through the sea of swirly-twirly gum drops, and then walked through the Lincoln Tunnel," he meets his estranged human father, and the rest is history. I quote this movie all year round and aspire to be Buddy the Elf. This movie is a must. Even when it's not December.

3. "Home Alone."

"Home Alone" is so iconic and necessary for a holiday marathon. Watch as another little blond boy gets not only traumatized but also neglected by his entire family during the most wonderful time of the year.

4. "The Holiday."

Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Kate Winslet and. Jude. Freaking. Law—I can watch this lovable rom-com all year round. It has accents, cute old people, holiday fun, and did I mention Jude Law?

5. "The Ref."

Okay so "The Ref" is a bit more obscure. It's rated R due to its vulgarity, but it is downright hilarious. It's not your conventional holiday movie in the slightest, so if you're trying to mix it up, check it out. It does have Kevin Spacey though, excuse his presence.

6. "Eight Crazy Nights."

Shoutout to all my Jewish friends because "Eight Crazy Nights" with animated Adam Sandler is freaking hilarious. If you're tired of watching everyone unrealistically celebrating Christmas (let's be honest there needs to be more representation of the multiple holidays), then switch it up with this Hanukkah comedy.

7. "Frosty the Snowman."

I felt like this list would not be completed if I didn't have just one, really old, animated Christmas classic. It brings a sense of nostalgia and happiness to the holiday marathon, don't you think?

8. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."

I asked my friends what they think I should put on this list and they all said "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." This movie came out years before me and my friends were even born and it still remains a beloved classic—so if you haven't seen it, you really need to.

9. "Four Christmases."

I love love love this movie and it's not just because it has an amazing cast (even though that does help). It's because it has a modern twist to the comedic "Christmas with the family" trope. It's different, it's hilarious and so dysfunctional.

10. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

There's not really much to say about this CLASSIC, besides the fact that if you rewatch it as an adult, it's actually funnier. Break out the spiked eggnog my freshly 21-year-olds and laugh too hard at all the jokes you didn't understand when you were six.

Between the gingerbread house making, the lights and crafting, good laughs and holiday cheer, sit your booty on the couch and laugh at some classics. After the finals, you deserve it.

Ancient Roman Kings: 7 Leaders of Early Rome

The names and dates of the reigns of the first four kings, as well as the alternation of Sabin and Latin names, are more legendary than historical. The last three kings, of Etruscan origin, have an existence which seems less uncertain.

It is evident that all this is only a legend although archeology shows us little by little that these kings if they did not exist as the ancient history, describes them, have at least in the very Outlines were real as chief of a shepherd’s tribe. The period when kings ruled Rome could estimate at 245 years.

Love Lost

Being the girl that is falling for the boy is never easy.

You constantly text my phone telling me that you want to see me and hang out, even though we may not have sex we cuddle and that’s intimacy in its own. I’m tired of buying you food and being there for you like a girlfriend when you consistently tell me you aren't ready for a girlfriend. I am constantly feeling I’m getting slapped in the face because I’m doing all these things and getting nothing in return. Every day I feel myself liking you more which is just crazy because why would I even waste my time liking someone there isn’t a future with. I just want you to be honest with me and with yourself, tell me how you feel from your heart, stop just saying you aren’t ready. You are wasting time telling me you aren’t ready because while you are “getting ready” some guy somewhere else is telling me that he likes me and thinks I’m beautiful and wants to date me. I’m not asking for much, but I at least want exclusivity because you ask me for all these things but in return you give me nothing.

Pretty Little Liars

From reading the books in eighth grade to watching the television show all throughout high school, "Pretty Little Liars"basically defined my teenage existence. I was completely and totally obsessed on all accounts. However, even though I loved the fact that the books and the show are starkly different, there are simply just some ways in which the books are much better. Let's take a look:

Recently I was blessed to be a counselor at a wonderful camp, secluded in a cornfield somewhere in Virginia. I consider myself to be a seasoned camp counselor, as I have not only been a camper for most of my life but have been privileged enough to work multiple camps with all kinds of different facilities. I have worked camps with multi-thousand dollar facilities, with zip lines, rock walls, ropes courses, and boats. I have worked at camps with amazing water sports, camps with paintball, camps with canoes and paddle boats and floating blobs or trampolines in the middle of the water. I have worked at camps with in ground pools and camps without any pools, and even some camps with go-karts. I've had problem kids, kids who refuse to listen to anything I say, kids who sneak out after lights out to meet a significant other, and kids who are every camp counselors dream.

The United Nations (UN) has been in existence since June of 1945. Since then, the world has come together to work on and solve some of the harshest problems that face the Human Race. Be it children in societal ills like Human Trafficking, natural issues like Deforestation, or issues of extreme poverty, the UN has worked together in an attempt to make it a better place for us all. It's the only organization in the history of the world to bring people together in a willing, peaceful way; a feat that not even the League of Nations could do in the Post- WWI era. Why was it that one organization failed, and the other one is still going strong, 72 years later?
