I Would Rather Hit My Shins With A Razor Scooter Than Register For Classes At A Big School

As that time of year approaches, it's good to know the truths behind registration. Especially for Freshmen at big schools.

1. Freshmen are all trying to take the same intro lectures

You can kiss Econ 101 goodbye; everyone is trying to get in that class. Oh, and Intro to Psych? Yeah, that will be full also.

2. No one wants classes before 10 AM

You want to plan accordingly for going to bed late which seems to be unavoidable in college. You just can’t afford to miss your 8 AM every other day.

3. Or classes on Fridays

Classes on Fridays are like having classes on Saturday, now that Thursday is truly a part of the weekend. So Friday classes are a huge no.

4. Everyone wants the “life-changing” teachers

Stalking teacher reviews and finding the worthwhile teachers is a normal hobby. But just know everyone wants these teachers so their classes are the first to go.

5. Too many options for those who are undecided

Should you try a class on Space or the study of Greek mythology? The answer is you have no idea what fun or random class will be best for you, so it is kind of a guessing game.

6. The only section that fits in your ideal schedule is full

A discussion from 1-2 is always full. However, the 8 AM or 6 PM one is available, YAY!

7. Fulfilling pre reqs take up your whole schedule

Looks like I only get to choose one out of my four classes. It’s going to be a great semester –– who’s excited!?

8. Trying to find balance

3 math-like classes and 1 English seems like a lot of numbers and tests and not a lot of writing. If you know your passion, balance is more irrelevant but if you're still testing the waters, you have to try to keep your schedule even and manageable.

9. When you know your schedule is gonna be hard but you “have” to push through

You always start the semester strong with hopes and goals. But deep down right when you register, you know. This. Schedule. Will. Kill. You.

10. Freshmen register LAST

Don't keep your fingers crossed on your planned out schedule. Chances are, you will have a lot of last minute changes due to completely full classes.

Just know whatever your schedule ends up looking like, you can and will do it. And hey, Bs and Cs get degrees.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
