5 Hipster Foods To Try Around Boston
Halo Top

Remember when Whole Foods tried to sell us 6 dollar asparagus water?

What is more ridiculous: that people bought it or that Whole Foods tried to sell it?

While this is just an example of hipsters gone way too far, there have been other times where hipsters actually got it right. Let's explore a few.

1. Sushi-rittos

It's basically a bigger and longer, uncut roll of sushi.

I tried this at New Sushi in Boston, which is near Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). It was absolutely amazing; I highly recommend it if you like sushi. It's very filling and only around $10 for quite a few fillings.

2. Kaleamole

I actually like kale, it's one of the healthiest vegetables out there. As someone with terrible eyesight, I need all the vitamin A I can get.

Kale is easy to cook, but it tastes super bland. But imagine eating guacamole flavored kale! When I put it like that it actually sounds very unappetizing.

3. Acai Bowls

Acai bowls are basically extra expensive smoothies in a bowl with fruit and cereal stuff on top, but it tastes so good... gotta do it for the Instagram pic.

Here are a few great locations in Boston if you want to try it out: Jugos, Bom Cafe, and Juice Press.

4. Halo Top Ice Cream

Let's be honest, ice cream has no texture so it's all about the taste. And Halo Top has some great interesting flavors, like Smores and Red Velvet!

I love ice cream! But every time I eat it, you feel guilty because of how fattening it is. For instance, Haagen Daz has 16 grams of fat per serving in its plain vanilla. That's per serving. Unless one carton is suddenly one serving, I've been eating one serving.

But Halo Ice Cream has a lot less fat (2 grams per serving!) so thanks @ them for helping get rid of my ice cream guilt.

5. Fomu Ice Cream in Boston

Did I mention I like ice cream?

This ice cream is completely vegan and has some interesting flavors like avocado and earl grey (delicious, if you were wondering). It has gelato like consistency from the avocado base.

There's a location around 20 minutes from Northeastern's campus, so you don't have to go all the way to Cambridge to get it.

None of this was endorsed by anybody, I just enjoy food. So if you are every bored with your routine and want to try a new food, go ahead and take the risk!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
