We all know what it’s like to wait in line hoping and craving for a delicious cup of coffee, eyeing delicious pastries and breads, as we look to start our day off right with the help of some warm caffeine.
Then that wait turns into a two-hour ordeal with crying babies screeching in your ear while customer, after annoying customer yells at the barista for their triple non-fat sugar-free venti Frappuccino with no coffee, but extra caramel and whip cream on top.
It’s ridiculous.
It’s so stupid that on Feb. 7 Canadian comedian Nathan Fielder opened up his very own Dumb Starbucks in L.A.
This caused a legal frenzy because of Starbucks copyrights. However, Fielder reassured the public in a YouTube announcement that it was legal.
“By adding the word ‘dumb’ we are legally allowed to use the coveted Starbucks name and logo, because we fulfilled the minimum requirements to be considered a parody under U.S. law,” Fielder said in the video.
By Feb. 10 the Dumb Starbucks was closed not because of copyright issues with Starbucks, but because they didn’t have a valid public health permit, according to ABC News.
Although their business may have been short lived, the impact caused through social media will live on.
Hopefully this stance against the massive Starbucks Corporation will spur a movement to support local coffee shops, where real coffee actually exists.
People can easily make their own Starbucks drinks by adding a cup sugar to a cup of milk and stirring in chocolate syrup, or by letting ice cream melt until they can drink it.
Problem solved. Thanks, Dumb Starbucks.
