In your first year at Wells College, you're going to meet some of your best friends during freshmen orientation, and you're going to stay friends with them, even when you transfer to another college your sophomore year. You will be with each other through the good times, the bad times and all the things in between. You'll even start a slam poetry club on campus. You're going to experience living in snow for the first time, and it's definitely not the fluffy kind of snow you thought it would be. Oh, how you're going to hate wearing flip flops every time you have to take a shower, but it's all a part of the college dorm life experience.
You're going to be a walk on for the Division III tennis team and eventually follow your team to NEAC and place third overall as the number four spot in the conference. Surprisingly, you'll even be Student Athlete of the Week in the NEAC. Practice will push you to your limits as you play for your post on the team. Weekend trips to Pennsylvania will be the highlight of your time on the team — don't take any moment in that red Wells van for granted. In the process, you'll bond with your teammates, playing the dice game, LRC, every night during a weekend of conference matches. Your coach will call you Dani California, and you won't know until second semester what that means until you realize it's actually a song by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
You're going to take some classes that question your interest in your major during the fall semester, but come spring, you're going to have some of the best professors teach you and reaffirm that international affairs is what you really want to pursue. Fair warning: The Blue Book will be your worst enemy during midterms and finals.
After you've transferred to the University of Maine, you're going to have a difficult time adjusting. You'll join Army ROTC and make some friends before realizing one day that you couldn't — in good conscious — shoot an M-16. Handing in your uniform will be one of the toughest things you do, but soon, you'll realize bigger and better things await you.
You'll make Dean's List for the third time in a row – something that was only a mere dream back in high school. You're going to have such a great time in college with some of the greatest people you'll ever meet. Every day will bring new challenges, and you'll tackle them head on. You'll graduate college in three years, and soon, picking out possible grad schools and law schools and applying will come sooner than you think. The real world of salary jobs and taxes seemed so far away before. So, enjoy high school and all the free textbooks! Oh, and remember to enjoy taking showers in the comfort of your own home without having to wear flip flops!
