Growing up in Prattville, Alabama, where everyone pretty much knows each other, it's hard to branch out and explore yourself and your surroundings. You have the same routines every day, which include going to school, having practice for band or a sport, then you hangout with your friends. My friends were the ones who made living in a small town memorable and crazy. My high school friends and I have so many memories.
When you go through the awkward stages in life, you turn and see that these were the people who helped you get through the tough times and the best of times. Whether it was your first breakup or your first kiss, they were always there for you. My high school friends always knew how to shake things up. I remember so many “firsts” I had that I got to share with my friends. From going on my first river adventure and going tubing, to going skiing in Colorado, I got to venture out and learn so much about myself. These are the people who know me so well, even though we don’t get to spend much time together anymore. They helped shape me into the person I am today, and it's crazy to think I love them more now than ever.
It's hard to imagine my life without my amazing friends. I know now since everyone is spread out and we don’t see each other as often as we did, we are still so close. We talk almost everyday in a group message, and we even schedule weekends for trips to visit each other. It's amazing how true friendships never disappear, they just grow stronger.
Knowing that my best friends will stay close to me forever, as well as go through more life events with me, is a blessing. Some people don’t get to have these bonds with their high school friends because they didn’t stay in touch, but I know when we all get our big girl jobs, they will always be there for me.
