Big penciled in lips, drawn on eyebrows and unrealistic celebrity bodies may be in style today. But, last time I checked elegance never went out of style. There are so many filters out there waiting to airbrush and perfect something that is no need of perfecting. What happened to being natural? What happened to no-make being a good thing? Why is there so much pressure on girls to have it all , without appearing like they try to have it all. Let me tell you something, it is not easy to have your shit together 24/7. It's not easy to be all dolled up all day long every day of the week. A day to lay on the couch, watch the new season of "Game of Thrones," while eating cookie dough is never a bad thing. Now do not get me wrong, it is nice to look at celebrities, or even the random Instagram famous girls, but it is not fair to compare ourselves to them. Their lifestyles are completely different from ours, and you know what that's okay.
I may not have a personal trainer or three hours to spare for a workout everyday, but I still make time in between classes to get my booty to the gym a couple times a week.
I may not have an Instagram famous body, but I can still rock my Tobi dress.
I may get my mascara from CVS but somehow I make it work.
I may not wear that mascara everyday, but I still look damn good without it.
Even though I have three tests tomorrow and a paper to write, I still fit my eight hour work shift in there.
Even though I have to wear an embarrassing hat to work, I still prove my independence and work ethic.
I may not be an Angel on a Saturday night but I still make it to church Sunday morning.
I may not be perfect when it comes to my relationship with God, but that doesn't stop me from trying.
Even though I will never be an engineer, or chemist, or neurosurgeon, I am proud of the A I got in my Advertising 101 class.
Even though I may never be the next William Shakespeare or C.S. Lewis, that doesn't stop me from writing.
I may not be Kylie Jenner.
But I'm real, and I slay.
