He's Not Your Savior

He, as in…your boyfriend, your crush, your husband, your friend, or just any other average joe.

He's Not Your Savior

We all want to be loved. As human’s we are hardwired to desire affection and attention, and that is perfectly alright! In fact, it can be great! The issue evolves when we start turning to a member of the opposite sex for complete satisfaction in every aspect. It is simply impossible for any one person to make you feel 100% desired, loved, and happy 24/7. One person can never completely fulfill us because we were made for a love so much greater.

Now don’t get me wrong, your significant other should absolutely make you feel loved and worthwhile. You just can’t depend on them in every way because they are only human just like you. They can make you laugh, and smile. They can give you a shoulder to cry on when you need it. They can support you in the good times and the bad. They can love you with all their heart, but they can’t save you.

The only one that can “fix” you is the one that made you. If someone hands you a new invention, and you want to know how to use it then you would ask the person who made it for help. You wouldn’t ask a random person standing near you to make it work because they were not the ones who made it in the first place. Just like you would have to ask the creator of the invention for help, you have to ask your Heavenly Father for help in fixing you. Your boyfriend, crush, husband, friend, etc. cannot fix everything that is wrong in your life. That kind of pressure is not fair to them, and it isn’t fair to you.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8

That is a pretty lengthy list of all that love is, and while he/she should strive to love you like that, the only one who can be all these things all the time is the one who IS LOVE. Jesus is the only one who can completely satisfy you. You are his BELOVED. He loved you first, and He will love you last.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
