Cats seem to get a lot of flack. They're highly regarded as "stuck up", or "evil", and most seem to have an issue with calling a cat's name and not getting a response back. I understand, it's all about preference- some are just not cat people. However, there is just something so unique and exquisite about the feline species.
Cats know when it's time to play, and time to be serious. They have the ability to sleep all day, and to immediately be activated into "play mode" when a string is presented to them. Cats will wait until their owners are fast asleep in bed, preferably at 3 a.m. (which is known as "The Devil's Hour" to some), to run at full speed back and forth to opposite ends of the house. That is a quality I know I could only dream to have.
Cats are very affectionate and will show their love and loyalty by rubbing their little cat bodies up against their owners. This is to effectively place their smell onto their owner, warding away any other animal who might claim them for its own. The loyalty and commitment displayed by this act of mutual ownership is to die for, and certainly not followed up by the cat's creepy staring at you at all times of the day, making sure you are doing your duties as cat slave! But, even if it were, I wouldn't mind.
Cats are not only majestic and wise, but they literally come with built in weapons on their bodies. Four cute little muffin paws disguise themselves as sheaths for five tiny instruments of destruction. And that adorable little meow-box on its face is home to some incredibly carnivorous teeth. Cats act as the irresistibly-cute version of the animal kingdom's succubus, just waiting to mess a sister up if she pets kitty's tummy the wrong way. You would never have to worry about your cat on the street- she knows how to handle herself. Lil' cat mama don't need no man.
Cats just do what they want. They sit in or on whatever they want, they don't come when you call their name. Cats aren't a slave to the man, and probably listen to Rage Against the Machine when we're not at home. Cats are the models of what society should be: independent and soul-searching. What do they do when they just sit there and stare at the wall? They look deep within themselves and contemplate what it really means to be a cat. And we just can't interfere with that beauty.
Cats are the ideal companion because they're so down to earth. They know who the boss really is (They are.. I mean come on. We get emotional when they sleep in a cute position). They are the perfect combination of disgustingly cute and terrifying (in a good way). They are the epitome of independence and solitude. They know what they want and how to get it. In essence, cat lovers obsess over their kitties because they represent something that they aspire to be- cool, calm, collected, and know when to have fun.
