Here Is To My Hero

To the woman who has so little but gives so much.

Here Is To My Hero
Bryanna Williams

Here is to the woman who practically raised me. The woman who picked me up when I was down, gave me all the advice I could ever need, and loved me when I needed love the most. Here is to the woman who puts in the most amount of work and asks for nothing in return. To the woman who will give an arm and a leg to help her family. She is the most selfless woman I know. She is courageous and kind, and will forever be overly generous. She has endured and persevered through more events than anyone I know. This woman can not only light up a room with her warm and bubbly personality, but she can bring you to tears with how funny some of her stories are. This person is what you would call a modern day savage or badass, from getting kicked out of Canada to getting tattoos when your 50 some years old. This is to the lady that will force you to eat even when you aren't hungry. To the lady who will tell you that you look beautiful or straight up tell you "no you look fat". She is an honest, free-spirited individual who I absolutely adore. No matter what life puts her through, she stands strong. She is a fighter who doesn't give up.

Here is to my hero, my rock, to the person I run to when things get rough. Here's to the woman I can count on being there for me through all my mistakes. If I lost you I would be broken. You are the definition of family. You have been the foundation on which I rebuilt my life on. You are the roots and the beginning of our family. All my fond memories have been by your side or in our home. You bring people together in times of need and have helped more members of the family than anyone else I know. You have offered everything you can to friends and family in need, a shoulder to cry on, a bed to sleep in, a warm, home cooked meal. Life would be a million times harder if you weren't here, not only for me but for all the others around you.

You have affected so many lives and have left a lasting impression. When people hear your name they think of love and happiness. They think of a person who gives their all and a person who will do pretty much anything for anyone, unless she's got a good book in her hands. She is the teller of good stories, the mother of more kids than are actually her own, and the most dedicated woman one will ever meet. Yes she gets crabby when the dishes aren't done or when she hasn't got any sleep, but those are the days I live for. Without you here life would be boring and no fun.

Here is to my grandma, whom I love with all my heart and am so glad I have you in my life. May the George Club live on forever.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
