Here Comes The Christmas Specials!

The colorful lights, the festive music, the ugly sweaters, and the last-minute gift shopping - Christmas time is on the horizon again! For many of us, the countdown to Christmas Day is just as important as the actual day itself. During the countdown, we spend time with our families while enduring the chaos that comes with getting ready for Christmas morning. One of our pastimes is watching various holiday films and specials, many of which have become pop culture classics. Here are a few specials and films to watch during the time leading up to December 25th.

Adventure Time: Holiday Jolly Secrets

The two-part holiday special of the eccentric series focuses on the Ice King’s secret video tapes. A fun time whether you’re a kid or an adult.

Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer

A classic holiday special that’s been passed down from generation to generation. While its visuals and aesthetic are dated, it still presents a special charm for kids to enjoy.

Frozen

No matter how many times we sit through hearing “Let It Go”, Frozen is a great holiday film to enjoy whether you’re a kid or an adult. With its massive popularity, the film is sure to be a winter classic in the years to come.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

The beauty of Tim Burton’s classic is that it’s two holiday movies in one! After celebrating Halloween, you can dive back into the film when you’re in the Christmas mood. It also helps that Jack Skellington is one of Disney’s most beloved characters of all time.

A Christmas Story

A holiday classic that needs no introduction - the coming of age story about Ralphie trying to get a BB Gun for Christmas has touched the hearts of many throughout the years.

Of course, this list is just barely scratching the surface. There’s many more holiday classics out there to see and enjoy with the family!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
