Hello unknown

I am an 18 year old girl from a town of 800 people in the middle of Minnesota whose life is consistent of hockey, writing, Jesus, and coffee.

Let's dive in... :)

I love to smile, it’s my way of showing others love and joy. I am a true believer in spreading as much joy and happiness as I possibly can. And for me I get asked why I smile so much and what makes me so happy. But the kicker is those things don't come from the earth and my possessions. It doesn't come from my iPhone 8, shoe collection, dance friends and career, nanny job, or my car.

It comes from Jesus

What a beautiful name indeed, what a man. I've been involved in the church since I was a baby so naturally I found attraction to God at a young age. But as I hit my teenage years and middle school I began to notice that these earthly things like friends, family, and dance weren't enough. I felt this inexplicable emptiness deep down in my heart. Imagine you are planning your week in your calendar and suddenly you get a phone call and every appointment, class, work schedule, and lunch time and date is changed. I raised my hand one Wednesday at a youth group and almost instantaneously God began moving his plans for my life into action. And the best part is that my life's purpose changed into the best possible thing; serving God.

One thing I’ve learned from my walk with God is that he challenges us and pushes out of our comfort zones. For me I liked my bubble and being able to stay there, sheltered and safe. So when God began asking me to be obediant naturally I got scared. So God called me to these 5 things;

1: Trusting In him

2: Forgiving others

3: Letting him lead me in what I say, do, and my actions.

4: Starting habits of daily Bible Study and Prayer

5: Repentence

Each thing I had to earn and I’m still working on. When we accept Christ into our hearts we are saying “ Lord here is my life, I lay it down before you because I want more than anything to dedicate my life to you. “

I pray for you who is reading this, know that God has his hand stretched out toward you. The ball is in your court. I hope you know the love God has for you. It says in Galatians 5:22 “ But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness “. These things are attainable just believe that God will work in you and prosper you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
