Hell

I envision Hell as a place where women's rights are slipping away. Where powerful, white men are able to dictate what women are able to do with their bodies. I envision Hell as a place where women are punished for having an abortion. And having an abortion will be completely nonexistent in the near future.

I envision Hell as a place where women are treated in misogynistic ways. Where rape is advertised and will soon be the new normal. Where it is okay to "grab women by the pussy" and call them horrible names. Where women feel unsafe walking alone at night because they don't know if they'll be alive the next morning.

I envision Hell as a place where it is okay to assume a woman is menstruating because she asks deep and meaningful questions. Where women's breasts are sexualized in lingerie advertisements and pornography but shamed when breastfeeding their infants because it is viewed as disgusting.

I envision Hell as a place where marginalized groups are treated with disrespect and inequality. Where lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and other individuals are treated as if they are nonexistent and don't have a place here. I envision Hell as a place where suicide rates are on the rise because these people would rather die than be who they really are. Because our society still fails to accept them.

I envision Hell as a place where the color of someone's skin determines if they are criminals. Where young, black men are the victims are police brutality. I envision Hell as a place where immigrants are viewed as rapists. Where children are taken away from their parents at the border and kept in cages. I envision Hell as a place where building a wall to keep hopeful people out of our country has become the rhetoric that we hear daily.

I envision Hell as a place where school shootings have become an everyday occurrence in our society. Where innocent students are shot and killed. I envision Hell as a place where parents must identify the corpses of their young children. Where parents have to bury their child because nothing is being done about gun violence. I envision Hell as a place where teachers die to save the lives of their students. Where thoughts of arming teachers with guns appear to be a good idea because apparently, it is the only way we can save lives.

I envision Hell as a place where the time for prayer must stop and the time for action must begin.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
