You may be thinking that finding a topic to write about every week would not be that difficult, well you would be wrong.
The last 30 minutes have been spent staring at my laptop waiting for the words to start typing themselves. It's just hard to think of something creative that none of the other thousands of writers haven't already thought about. It's one thing to think of the topic, but then you need to figure out a way to talk about it to get people to actually read it.
You have to find a topic that will appeal to the audience. I'm not talking about your relatives who share every article you write. I'm talking about the sororities, the frats, the sports teams; these are the big groups you need to appeal to. I write because I enjoy writing, not to get the most shares, but it is important as a writer to know who is going to get your story out there the most.
I like to write about things that I believe are important, but that does not mean that they are important to the people reading the article. I always find this frustrating because you can pour your heart and soul in to an article, but then have nobody like it. It makes you feel vulnerable. Everyone saw what was once just a thought in your head, and didn't like it.
But enough of being emotional, the problem is that no matter how hard you think of something to write about it is not going to always be good. Sometimes you just have a brain fart and write a stupid article, like this one. Other times you may be writing about the same topic as someone else, and since you have low self-esteem you automatically believe the other article is better. There are just so many factors that go into the success of an article.
However, I don't think it is anyone's fault if an article does not gain a lot of popularity. Timing is everything when it comes to writing articles. The time of day that you post your article, what is going on that day, what other articles are posted. All of these things can contribute to an article's success.
However, like I said it all comes back to the topic. I don't even know what this article is about, so it probably won't have much success, but that is my point. Sometimes you just can not think of anything. We all have our off days as writers. If the juices are not flowing right then nothing special is going to happen.
So I'm not really sure how to end this article because frankly I have no idea what it is about. SO for everyone's sake, I'm just going to end it here.
Yours Truly,
Ryan Jordan
