Let’s run a little experiment. Let’s say you want to play a game, and the game is free. But there is some extra stuff in the game that would really help you play better, so you decide to put some money into the game. Now you feel good about yourself, and you are enjoying life. And then you meet “that” guy. For some reason, black magic, Colombian drug money, nepotism of the highest degree, this guy has everything in the game and proceeds to beat you like a government mule. Now what do you do? Do you A, move on with your life like a normal human being who knows you can’t win every game? Of course not you get angry and dump more money into the game because if that guy can do it so can you.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the world of online free to play games. That guy is the reason games like Hearthstone are so successful. The reason we play games of any kind is to do cool stuff and win. When I play you, I want my stuff to be cooler than yours, and by virtue of the rule of cool, I will win. Online TCG’s like Hearthstone, have all of their cool stuff locked behind random packs however, so in order to be cool, you have to dump money in and hope you open enough good packs, or accumulate more dust than your lonely grandmother’s attic to craft the individual cards, to build a good deck. But you don’t just want a deck, you want multiple decks, because look at all the cool stuff you can do.
So you have to repeat the process, dumping money into the collection well of RNGesus and believing in his gospel to get you good cards. And you never want to stop, you know you’ve sunk time, money, and energy in and you just want to try your hardest to “git gud." Basically what I’m trying to say is Hearthstone, you owe me. I’m just going to put like another $50 in because I really want to get my mage, druid, and shaman decks in. I'm good for it just, help a brother out and give me some useful cards for once.
